View Full Version : No excuses for Wade and Bosh not to average 23/5/5 and 22/10 now?

They're no longer spot up shooters and now they're fully healthy.
To validate their 'superstar' status they received from 2011-2014 is it required that they at least average these stats this season??

Dude was putting up 22/4/5 in 32 minutes a game. Per 36, Wade averaged 24/4/6 on 47%.

I'd say yeah for Bosh, there's no reason he shouldn't average 22 a game. The 10 rebounds will be tough with Whiteside, so I'd expect 8-9 from him (Bosh). Wade... I expect a cool 20 PPG and 5 APG from him, but not too many rebounds. No excuses? Yeah I'd say. Will they do it? Probably not, as much as I'd love for that to happen.

This is true, if Spoelstra is going to prove any year that he isn't a product of LeBron, this is the year to do it.

He's Riley's pet though. He isn't going anywhere, I'm afraid. I just wish that Riley would stop being stubborn AF and hire a good HC. Spo would be a killer AHC.
Are these numbers accurate, BTW?

Exactly. Even though the Heat's season was an injury riddled mess, Wade quietly had a very good year (great by most SG's standards). That would be a career year for all but a handful of SG's in the league.
Bosh battled injuries even before the blood clot issues and he still put up 21/7.
Saying that a player is "required" to average certain stats for validation is one of the dumbest thing I've ever heard. They put up good numbers last year and the team struggled. You can't have it both ways. If Wade and Bosh are averaging big numbers it probably means that something is seriously wrong with the team (injuries, lack of chemistry, poor ball-movement, Spo).
Also, what does 2016 have to do with 2011-2014? Are those guys somehow impervious to aging?

Bosh was 4-14 last night. Look at his shot selections.
Did LeBron suit up for Miami last night and was the reason why Bosh took nine 3pt shots??
HEAT: Tyler Johnson scored 14 points and Miami's bench outscored Washington's 67-30. ... Chris Bosh tried nine 3-pointers, matching what would have been his career high.

Wait, last night's game was a preseason game right? You know, essentially an organized practice?
I mean, it's not like players experiment with different aspects of their game in the preseason or anything. It's clearly sound logic to extract data from preseason games to draw definitive conclusions.
Marcin Gortat (18/13/4) might be the best center in the league. He has to at least be an all-star with those stellar numbers.

Individual stats are overrated. As long as they play their role, the winning numbers will come.
TBH I'd be surprised if they each play more than 30-31 mpg.

I expect more out of Wade DEFENSIVELY this year. With the team healthy there is a lot more scoring, so I hope he's more engaged defensively this season as Miami Heat basketball has been built on defense since Riles came over and they are going to need his abilities on the perimeter if they are going to be a good defensive team.

Thank you, and I agree 100%. The Heat need to be a balanced team, and if Wade and Bosh have to put up big numbers for the team to win, something is wrong.

it all depends on health. we were having these same expectations last year and look what injuries did.

Well Bosh did average a career high in 3 point attempts per game last season. What a waste of 10 time all star and perennial 22/12 player Chris Bosh. Ever since Bron left Wade ball has been pushing Bosh further and further away from the basket.

I agree that Bosh shot too many 3's last year, but that was more to fill a void than anything. It's no secret that one of the Heat's biggest weaknesses is a lack of 3 point shooters. Hopefully the addition of Dragic and Green can help him reign it in a bit from out there.
For the record, Bosh's 3 point attempts per game have risen every year since joining Miami, and in fact his biggest jump occurred between 2013 and 2014.

Yeah, probably somewhere in that neighborhood. I'm thinking and hoping for around 20/5/4 and 19/8, both on solid efficiency and ideally at around 30-32 mpg.
