He can opt out next year. He'll be 30 with multiple back and leg injuries, so theres that.

However, in today's NBA, scrub PFs *cough* are getting 5 years $82 Million so I guess anytings possible.

So what will it be? Would you give him the AD special (5 years $145M?) Or maybe a shorter term deal?

He isn't worth the max imo. Far from it.

He still has a big impact, not as noticeable or as much as he used to but it's still there.

If he wants 5 years though it'll have to be at a lower rate. I'd say a 4 year front loaded deal.

Whatever he gets people will say he's been over paid but look at what a guy like Kanter got.

. I'd say a 4 year front loaded deal.
.

Front Loaded deal may not be a bad Idea. The rate second tier talent has been getting paid....it will take a few season to readjust before dumbas$ owners realize they are way overpaying for second tier.

Once big stars signs for colossal contracts, they will be crapping them pants.

He's going to get paid a decent amount though based on how much Thompsons and Kanter have gotten. If they can structure it so in his final year it is down to a reasonable level (under the new cap it should be) then he would become a nice trade asset in 3 seasons time if he declines more. Right now though you don't want to lose him, rockets are in a good position and can make a run if things go right for them (injuries/match ups) and it's hip to hate on Dwight but he is still one of those guys who can change a teams game plan just by being on the court.

signing him at the same price for an extra year would be ideal

he may demand 3 years tho

60/3?

houston will not make through 1st round without him.
hell, will rockets even make to playoff with just harden and lawson?

Dwight is gonna rob houston. but i think Morey will trade dwight's ass anytime possible since every body is an asset.

max without question.

So 5 years $160M (projected 2016 max)?

Your dumb as **** if you dont give a legit center the max

Look at the final four in the West

Houston
GSW
Clippers
Grizzlies

They all have a great defensive center

If any of you retards actually watched the playoffs you would know how dominant DJ was when Howard wasnt in the game. You need a legit center in the west

Pelicans
Spurs
Portland
Dallas

All had great defensive bigs ( Tim, AD, LMA/Lopez, and Tyson)

So why the **** would you not pay this man

Get your feelings out your brain and think logically for once ish

Can easily see the Knicks offer him the max and a sign-and-trade centered around Robin Lopez to make the salaries match. And I do think Houston would rather do that then pay the max for Dwight.

Dwight is still worth 22 to 24 mil a year.He can still be a game changer on defense and is still goodfor 18 and 11 with 3 blocks

Howard hasn't averaged 3 blocks once in his career, and he sure as hell isn't going to average that at 30 years old.

Going yeah, he'll still be one of the best rebounders and one of the best defensive big men in the league.

I agree. Dwight is a bigtime game changer on the defensive end despite his back , knee and shoulder injuries.

Did you watch him in the playoffs? he raises his game to another level in the playoffs. He was making Deandre and Chandler look like scrubs.
