Bond movies are okay...but I've never got why people get so excited for them. They are usually hit or miss. With the Daniel Craig ones I"d say: Casino Royale was very good-great, Quantum of Solace was awful, and Skyfall was decent-good. If you go back to the Brosnan one's, then everyone but Goldeneye is bad-average. I just don't see how a series so inconsistent can be so popular.

I was surprised they made Daniel Craig this buff ass 007. Bonds was always a charming character; Craig was definitely charming and smooth but he wasn;t believable with his ridiculous six pack.

Hardy is an exceptional actor; him and Renner have been arguably two of the very best in the last 5-6 years, when it comes to action films. But Hardy is a monster.

I have no problem with Idris, I just think Damian Lewis, Jeremy Renner or Tom Hardy fit the profile better (not necessarily better actors, as I think Idris is fantastic).

This is a series; you always had white english looking dudes portraying James Bond. Different actors played him, but you must remember the name "James Bond". It's the same character played by different actors.

So if you star Idris, you lose that focus, IMO.

I don't have any particular problem with a gay character or a female character, but if you're going to do that, why make it a James Bond. Why not just write your own source material and do a female or gay spy character. Why shoehorn it into an existing character. Even black for that matter, which would bother me less, because Bond's sexuality is so baked into the character, more than even his race particularly. So I wouldn't be all that bothered by Idris Elba as Bond, but I'm also a big fan of his.


I always liked Clive Owen as a potential Bond, but he may be getting a little long in the tooth for it.

Can't really think of any young actors with the type of profile, acting, and looks that would make a convincing Bond. A dude like Eddie Redmayne has the profile and ability but clearly can't be bond. That dude who was in 50 Shades of Grey looks like he could play Bond but I'm sure he is a total hack.

I hope they don't try to repeat the Craig style Bond because he seems pretty uniquely suited to it. Even his lines that are the dry, wit that you'd expect in these movies has a darkish edge to it. Like the "waste of good scotch" line in Skyfall wouldn't work well with someone who is more of a pretty boy.
