What a stupid thing to spend your summer working on:facepalm

Agreed. Get him working in the post.

oh the horror
10-28-2015, 12:46 AM
Yeah. When I heard that I was taken back. The kid could be a monster in the post and he's spending the offseason working on long range three pointers?

Gentry needs his pass whooped for that. I understand they want him to expand his game but shooting 3s should be way down the list.

Yep should have spent more time working on his low post game.

It makes perfect sense for him to add the corner 3 to his game...

he was a great mid range shooter last year, and hes young, his game is gonna develop fast, why not expand the range out a couple feet?

i said it was stupid :facepalm

why the fck would u focus on 3s, leading to less shots in the paint which you are known for. Davis is such a beta.

Maybe Davis just isn't that good :confusedshrug:

He's basically a young KG, who spent his career shooting 18-20 footers. Why not shoot 3's? Weird people disagree, especially since everyone gets hard talking about TS%.

He shot 2 3's

Calm down

I want him taking corner threes when he can

Corner 3's are only 22 feet

When he gets the opportunity, that is a VERY good shot

Gentry is a moron. You play to your star's strengths, you don't impose your game on him.

Yeah but if he's hanging out there jump shooting then their offensive rebounds suffer.

Dirk only won a title when he stopped shooting threes and started playing only from the high and low post. That's where Anthony Davis should be focusing on his game. He needs to play closer to the hoop so he is there for boards.

Has anthony davis actually shown he can get easy shots at the basket for himself?

everybody is quick to anoint him the next great player, and he probably will be, but AD creating for himself isnt all that threatening. When he is finishing plays, be it jumpers or at the rim, or attacking against a rotating defense, he's scary, but like last night, when he has to do everything, he looks mortal. hes a great althete, but he doesnt seem to just blow by people like you would expect.

its only one game, and once tyreke and holiday get back, im sure he'll be fine, his stats will be great again, but his iso scoring game still needs some work for him to become the best in the league.

Big men with shooting touch but talent to score inside sometimes get too comfortable chucking 3s and the rest of their game suffers. Rasheed Wallace and Chris Bosh are perfect examples.

Doesn't hurt to have range obviously, as long as his bread and butter is inside and mid range. I thought he settled for way too many unnecessary long jumpers last night. His production and the team suffered as a result.

Davis shouldn't bother with 3's. He's a big man. Work on your mid range and post game. He should work on his game 20ft and in. Leave the 3pt shoots to your wings and guards. His rebounding numbers will drop if he shoots from outside too much. Obviously he's not a very good shooter from far.

don't mind him shooting 3s if he is hitting them but for Christ Sake....When you have a midget on you....Take it to the damn hole!

People act he's been playing in the post all his career and just now started shooting jumpers.

He played like this all last season. His points in the paint come from baseline movement, cutting, and some seldom drives. He hasn't been a post player up to this point really at all.

Uh...KG worked in the post regularly...he wasn't taking a bunch of 18-20 foot shots.

A whole lotta post ups that turned into 16 ft fadeaways

yea. nop has no point guards at the moment so he never got the ball when cutting or rolling.

It's not like he's gonna be hanging out there like Dirk. Extend his range another 3-5 feet, it spreads the floor even more.

:applause:

davis has always been a face up player. and if he becomes a constant threat beyond the arc, his game will open up even more for him. Asik is a monster on the offensive glass, so whens hes back and healthy, having davis hitting mid range - 3 pt shots is good for their offense.

Davis is a face up player who's going to shoot alot of jumpers. With today's knowledge we know that long jumpers aren't the answer. Makes sense to extend your range and shoot 3's instead of long 2's.

Someone said it earlier but he's closer to KG than he is to Duncan. He'll bang inside a little bit, finish plays with his length/athletic ability around the rim, but extending his range was a smart move. If he can actually shoot it. It'll be useless if he's like Josh Smith and continues to chuck 3's if he can't make them at a good rate.

KG could bang in the post but people always criticized the fact that he settled for jumpers too often. KG was more of a midrange shooter/face up player than he was a post player IMO. That 14-18 foot range.

He's a point guard in a big man's body...
