I like him. He moves too well for his size. Like Ralph Sampson. Not THAT mobile but you know what I mean. People 7'3'' arent supposed to move like he moves.

I suspect by the end of the year im gonna wish he played with better teammates though. How do you not throw lobs to that guy on a couple of those breaks? You make a 7'3'' guy who moves like a 3 bend down to find a ball thrown at his ankles? Later hes running pointing to the sky...you wait too long...and dump it in for a quick hook?

This kid needs Mark Jackson to run with.

I have warned people a lot not to immediately peg this guy as the next Dirk....BUT.....

He's got that ability to shoot from the triple threat over people, which means that guys are all up in his jersey on D. Dirk got so many fouls because of this, and Zinger lived at the line last night. Maybe he can be great:confusedshrug:

Blue&Orange

What stood for me was how he was harassing people in the paint. People gonna have problems scoring on a 7 footer with quick feet in the paint.

aye, his defense is much more eye opening to me than his offence tbh, his ability to move so quickly around is going to be a nightmare on d

He looked like a deer/Buck in headlights at the start of the game. Was probably just nerves, but he looked lost. He finally settled down, and started playing better. I think he still needs 2 years of experience here, and then he's gonna start beasting. 20/10/3 blocks will be standard boxscore for him.

The way guys get injured these days... you're going to tell me a 7'3 SF who plays without any caution or finesse is going to play 10+ good years in this league?

How? How many guys his size have not had their careers cut short by injury?

and yall thought drussell was a better pick just cause all the hype, only picked him cause all the media idiots kept yammering about him...yall didnt even do any scouting on him...yall had okafor up until the end when some idiot decided...no this slow guard, who got no inside game, cant go left, or right...but can shoot a 3 is the one...but thank you for keeping him away from us..we would have done the same had he been there

point is at number 2, yall could have picked anyone...not just follow the hype crowd

A few scouts said he should go #1, because he has the most potential. 7'3" and skilled is very rare.

Coming out of high school, Mudiay was seen as no worse than top 2, but he fell to 7. Just happens when you are not seen enough.

There was speculation from a few people he COULD go that high.

But who in their right mind would pick a Euro at 1 these days?

Can think back to Darko and Bargnani, but franchises have steered away from that noiw

Yeah, no way he goes 1st because of the bad taste of high euro busts. But if you look at those players, Darko was ****ed over by the coach and Bargs was a Primo Pasta guy from the start.

Porzingis has the fire in him. Just like Dirk.

Yeah they were saying he could go 2 but he possibly had the most talent of anyone and if he was a U.S kid he could go 1. Hard to say though because if he were a U.S it's also possible he could have looked bad in college or great in college just don't know.

Either way he looks solid and has a lot of upside.

Also has good height and wing span which will serve him well when blocking shots.

I made a thread about PJ being a genius. He can turn this franchise around.

Zinger was copping a lot of Eurobust BS ever since the draft up to preaseason games.

When I look at what PJ shipped out and the decent contracts he took in over the offseason, you could already tell he was making headway into Knicks past blunders on the roster.

http://www.insidehoops.com/forum/showthread.php?t=383393

He might of had to overpay Melo a bit, but you have to have a star player established to attract others in this league. It was a smart move long term.

There's always the risk with tall players and injury, but you can't base your draft pick on something that hasn't happened yet or have history of.

Trade Melo now, when we look like we've finally got the floor spreading second option needed to let Melo shine?

I would love to see Melo play with a genuine second option (or even first option if he fulfills the potential). IMO Melo can be a much more efficient scorer if he buys into that role and becomes a bit more selective with his shots.

Melo will be 33-34 years old when Porzingis is beginning to reach a consistent level. The team as it is isn't contending. I'd rather move melo now and try and get young pieces to build up along side Porzingis if it were my team. No trade clause is an issue though but it'd suck if by the time Porzingis is beasting Melo is old and inefficient just eating up cap space.

Wouldn't it have been easier just to say

"I'm jealous of the talent in the NBA?"

Porzingis was a barely average player on one of the worst teams in the Eurocup (level below Euroleague) and Spanish League (not even as good as Eurocup) just a few months ago.

The NBA is doing European basketball a huge favor in recent years by taking away all of its has beens and extremely overrated "talent" and making European basketball better each year, while the NBA gets progressively worse each season for about the last 7 or 8 years now.

This actually makes me happy.
