 New season, new (and probably last) Dirk All Time Scorer watch thread.
It was fun in the last 2 seasons to watch him reaching the top 10 and then going farther to the #7.
This year its Shaq's turn, if nothing happens to Dirk. They are around 460 points apart. If Dirk averages 10ppg in this season he'll get the #6.
Sadly the top 5 is out of reach (Wilt is 3000 points > Shaq), Thus, let's enjoy this last watch.

Btw Duncan, KG, and Paul Pierce (currently @14,15,16) need around 1000 points to get in the top 10
Lebron needs 2000 points, so with no major injury, I believe he'll make it this year

Then Lebron will surpass him.
Maybe Carmelo *desire...not likely
Maybe Durant *health...likely but still iffy

#7 seems right.

Man, that is so impressive. :applause:
I don't see any reason why Dirk should be outside the top 20 list, of all-time greatest.

Only white player on the top ten list.

5 of the top 20 are still active.

Then LeBron will eventually get there. Definitely by the end of the season, unless his back gives out. Probably Melo unless his fatass dies from heart disease in the next couple seasons. And Durant in like 5 seasons, assuming injuries don't become a problem.

Oh shit, I was looking at the nba/aba list. 6 of the top 20 (7 of 25) are active. Rest holds true.

Melo won't get there.. KD and Bron will.

Melo won't get top 20? He's only 4678 points away. All he needs to do is average 19.5 over the next 4 seasons, playing only 60 games a season. I know he'll be like 34 by then. Possible tho. And 19.5 would be a career low for him.

How long until PERZingas passes him?

Ok let's look into it:
Nowitzki has 28,323 pts
Porzingas has 154 pts

The difference is 28,169 pts

Assuming Porzinga is averaging 40 ppg from now on, then he'll need 704 games.
With now lockouts and regular 82 games seasons, it will take 8.6 years (8 yeras, 7 months)

Your answer is: October 2024

I hope I could answer your question.

Last update before goal.

Dirk could make it spectacular and do it in Toronto on the 22nd
Or go with his average and have it against the Nets on the 23rd. (most likely)
Or go below average then it'll be in Chicago on the 26th.

Anyway I hope he does it this year before Christmas. Very nice present for himself.

They're not playing the Bulls tonight, the Bulls game is after the Raptors/Nets one on the 26th.

And I thought something is odd, I don't remember this game to be tonight. I guess it is the aftermath of yesterday's Christmas party .

Sorry for the late update. Was late Christmas shopping.

Congrats Dirk, hope to see you still playing next year in Toronto, Detroit or even Dallas.
