First game of the season
Kobe took 13 3-pt shots, yes, 13 from beyond 24 feet making 3.
Missed a total of 16 attempts in a 1 pt loss to the TWolves.
Durant AND Westbrook took a COMBINED 12 3pt shots, 1 less than Kobe vs the Spurs.
Fellow geezer DWade took ZERO 3pt shots and missed a grand total of 9 attempts in a win.
Kobe has NEVER been a great 3pt shooter.
shot 29% last year, 19% 2 years ago(yes, not enough sample size)
But his BEST season the past several years was 36% 7 years ago but most of the time he hovers around 32-33%.
The problem I think is that he only remembers the ones that he makes and that shot is relatively the easiest one for him right now, instead of knifing his way to the teeth of the defense.
Now let's see if he proves me wrong like Randle did.

And now you know why he has 5 titles, 7 finals appearances, and is the most alpha man on planet earth.

20th season, garbage ass roster, garbage ass FO, idiot coach, etc.. Dude can take 40 3pt shots a game if he wants to. The team's going nowhere and he more than earned the right to shoot that much.

he hasn't earned sh*t. He gets paid mad money to play in a TEAM and what he is going to do is stunt the growth of other players and the Lakers franchise.

Kobrick is a cancer and I'm sure most Laker fans know this.

No one earns a right to shoot 13 threes, especially if you're not making them. Like, wtf dude.

The Spurs and Duncan clearly have the same mindset. Why try and get better, right? Why try and mentor and bring other players up? Just shoot it. You've earned it.

I mean, the FO is garbage. If they actually wanted to win, they wouldn't have given Kobe a $50M contract. They haven't made any big time FA signings in the past two years either (part of Kobe's contract is to blame for it). Russell signing was terrible. That dude is, at best, going to be a mediocre PG. Randle and Clarkson might be good though. They definitely NEED a better coach if they actually want to make something out of them. I'm pretty sure that even Kobe knows that the Lakers are not even going to make the PO's. Why not just shoot it?

EDIT: The current Lakers are not even close to being as good as the Spurs, when it comes to player development.

Agree with that, but do the Lakers have a top pick if they are in the lottery again ?

If not, then that's a problem.

That's my question. They have the type of team that will keep them out of the playoffs and out of the top pick contention.

Not sure what they were trying to do this season. They have some good young players with Randle and Clarkson and maybe Russell (eventually). However, they went and acquired some decent to middling talent that along with Kobe can win them a few games depending on the matchup. Kobe isn't going anywhere and they do need to sell tickets. But they still have to figure out a way to develop their young talent the right way.

Not sure why people continue to act like Kobe adds a few wins to this team rather than subtracts them.

He is a negative. A liability. If the Lakers want a good lottery pick, the BEST thing they can do is play Kobe as many minutes as possible

I think he still has some game left. But not as much as he thinks he does.

You truly believe Leonard, Bowen, Green, Parker, Splitter or even Ginoboli would be same player today if Kobe was the man for that Spurs team?

Duncan always having a stacked team has more to do with Duncan's leadership and willing to sacrifice more than anything.

Lakers team: "KOBE WE ALL OPEN!"

Kobe: "Say what? You guys want me to shoot? No problem, I can take on 5 guys."

Announcer: "Kobe for 3!"

ball sails pass the backboard...

Announcer: "Wow! Kobe with another air ball."

Kobe: "Don't worry, I'll make the next one."

If it's a buzzer beater then the overwhelming statistical likelyhood for Kobe is that it's a miss :(

A few things...

1. Duncan had good, but hardly stacked teams from 98 through 04...

2. Duncan has had some stacked teams...specifically the 05 through 07 Spurs and then from 12 through 14

3. Duncan was easily the best Spurs player overall from 07 through 10...he was a 19/11/3 regular season player and a 21/12/3 playoff player over that time while providing elite defense. Sorry, he was quite clearly their best player over that time. Hell, he was their best player in 13 as well. So you are just factually wrong here...

4. Duncan deserves credit for the Spurs ability to build a great roster as he's been taking less than he's worth for years. They could get LMA...sign Leonard and Green in part because of the culture of sacrifice Duncan has led during his time as a Spur. If Duncan signed a max deal every time he could...the Spurs simply wouldn't be the team they have now.

5. If 07 wasn't Duncan's team....then the Lakers really haven't been Kobe's teams either.

Duncan in 07....8.9 RAPM (led league)..26.1 PER...230 ws/48...7.1 BPM...6.3 VORP...111 ortg...94 drtg

So...your assertion was that it wasn't Duncan's team in 07...right? Okay...lets see if it was Kobe's team from 08 through 11...

Kobe 08-11...5.5 RAPM....23.6 PER...189 ws/48....4.4 BPM...5.0 VORP....113 ortg...105 drtg

So....it wasn't Duncan's team in 07, but it was Kobe's team from 08 through 11...right?

GTFO please....and I don't even care about most of those numbers above. RAPM is probably the one that is most useful, but use them solely to show you that your claim is absurd.
