Wish refs would call a double dribble on those shot fake hesitations once in a while just so players couldn't get their hand so insanely close to the ball like that and would be forced to be a bit more conservative. Impossible to defend a guy who already has such a quick release when you have to worry that he's gonna fake the shot on the dribble like that, so you have to stay down.

And that's not the only scenario nor is he the only other player to do that. It's a pretty basic thing to lower your dribble in traffic.
And the sudden increase in speed of the dribble is merely a product of lowering the dribble.

he crossed the ball back and forth four times while walking through three defenders then throwing a no look wrap around pass to a guy right under the basket.

That vine doesn't capture the pass at the right angle. The replay on TV showed the full effect of that sequence.

I never understood your comments until recently when I watched that clip of you hoopin. It makes what you say much more laughable
To have three people around you doing a speed dribble low while keeping control and knowing where people are on the floor to make a touch left hand pass is a 10+/10 difficulty play. It's the reason that it almost never happens.
As someone that is excellent at both dribbling and passing I can say with much more certainty how difficult that is. You can barely dribble in a straight line while running.

True, the dribbling skill itself on this play isn't otherworldly. In a vacuum, yeah, it's a low dribble back and forth.
However, the essence of the play is everything else that occurs. The split, the decision to engage those three defenders with a hesitation shot fake first, then by hypnotizing all three at once with the aforementioned dribble, THEN finishing it off in the manner he'd been planning for and setting up all along - a peerless no-look left-handed bullet on the money to Ezeli inside.
Pretty impressive sequence. Dude is something else.

I'll definitely say the entire development of the play is impressive, I didn't see anything extraordinary just looking at the dribble. Though maybe I'm spoiled by having watched Kyrie for 3 years. And having watched other dribble drives made by Steph that I thought were more dazzling through the Finals last year. The entire play is a nice sequence though.

Curry executed an entirely different play. Though both finished with a similar blind touch pass. Curry initiated that play in the OP as a "Pick and roll ball handler." A pick was set, he opted not to use it but it was there, and the roll man rolled to the hoop. Curry's play is impressive because despite the pick to his right he opts to go left through a mass of 3 bodies.
http://i.giphy.com/GTinKMx7zADVC.gif
Bob Cousy on the other hand, despite all the mockery is still doing an impressive play in his own right. He's in isolation, no picks and splits two defenders. He dishes to Sharman on the perimeter for a bucket.
What Cousy did without violating the era's tighter palming/carry rules is impressive, but I get it, it's fun to make fun of because the gif ISH likes to use is in slow-motion.

It isn't even that.
For all the "fundamentals" and how much better everything was back then that you and a few talk on here, take a look at the defense.
Look at them playing defense with their feet! Look at the positioning! Great work. Look at the slides and good defensive posture.

Measure the time it took for Cousy to pass the ball in the gif you used (with a light tap I might add) and compare it to similar modern day pass timings. You'll see how sped up your gif is.

Baylor was an incredible ballhandler, especially coast to coast. But when I think of great ball handling, the first name to come to mind is Big O. Look how subtly and easily he maneuvers in keeping the ball from Don Ohl, an excellent defensive guard. It's almost like he isn't there. No need for the off arm extension either, at least not in this clip.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UA5ZxxzwP4Y&t=2m15s
Below he fakes a great defender in Siegfried out of his shoes and comes off the screen to hit the shot over Nellie.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HE6kIu34Qsc&t=23m08s
He was a great dribbler who protected the ball well & was strong enough to play through contact, though that is almost irrelevant in the NBA this past decade with the new rules. In the video example below, look how he bumps off powerful forward Chet Walker with great ease and grace. In the following play, Wali Jones (one of the best defensive guards ever) is completely helpless on the baseline against Oscar, who makes him look almost like a high school kid. Once Oscar had him all by himself, it was over.
