Yeah so, I fly a lot and past four years I think I have been on a Russian airline at least 6 times with connecting flights and all. Yeah I think I'm skipping these Russian for awhile though. Seems like they are in the news for a big commercial crash at least 2-3 times a year.

i fly maybe 15-20x a year and use aeroflot quite often... kinda scary.
ISIS is taking claim that they did it.

They even released a video showing the plane blowing up, but most likely it's a fake.

These guys just gave Putin a green light to do whatever he wants. ISIS blowing up a plane full of Russians is exactly what he needed to get the Russian people's support for him to go in to the Middle East guns blazing.

He already has 90% approval ratings, ratings that received a huge spike after his move into Syria. :confusedshrug:
I thought the mere sight of Putin pumping iron sent members of ISIS into a state of panic?

Some of them are true believers and some aren't. The ones that welcome death can't be scared.
Also, let's not pretend like Russia is a legitimately democratic country. Who knows what his actual approval numbers are.

A Russian plane that crashed in Egypt over the weekend broke up in midair, a senior Russian aviation official said after visiting the crash site in the Sinai Peninsula on Sunday. All 224 people aboard were killed.
Modern planes don't usually fall apart in flight, barring an explosion caused by a bomb or missile, but Viktor Sorochenko, an official with the Interstate Aviation Committee, said it is too early to tell what caused the crash, according to Russia's Interfax news agency. A pilot on the flight complained to his wife about the condition of the Airbus 321-200 shortly before takeoff, a Russian TV station reported, and Russian and Egyptian officials denied claims by the Islamic State militant group that it had downed the plane.
They do have the two black boxes.
Egyptian officials said the Civil Aviation Ministry was analyzing data from two recovered flight recorders now at the ministry headquarters in Cairo.

Folks are definitely thinking about terrorism. The plane would be too high for a shoulder launched missile. Doubtful a missile system like the Russian missile system that took out the Malaysian plane was used. An onboard bomb should be able to be detected once they look at the debris.
--There aren't any manpads that can take out a plane at 31,000 feet are there?
--No, but close. Latest Stinger model can target up to 26k ft. Russia's latest model Igla is up to 21k ft.
[QUOTE] The Airbus A321-200 had just reached a cruising altitude of about 33,000 feet when, around 20 minutes after taking off from the Egyptian resort town of Sharm el-Sheikh, it suddenly plummeted by some 6,000 feet.
Over the next 20 seconds, the airliner, which was en route to St. Petersburg, Russia, abruptly climbed and descended several times before radar contact was lost, according to preliminary transponder data published by FlightRadar24.com, a commercial company that tracks airline routes.
While most analysts remain skeptical that Islamic State militants in the area possess missiles with sufficient range to strike aircraft flying at cruising altitudes, experts said they could not rule out the possibility of a more conventional form of terrorism.

Looks like Putin got his 'Welcome to Syria' care package from Syria.
Notice how hard Egypt and Russia are fighting against the evidence of a bomb. There goes Egypt's tourism industry.

Tragic event, but it's hilarious that only a month after conservatards going with the Putin is a baller - America is weak narrative that they blew up a commercial airliner with 200+ Russians.
Didn't take them long to make him look like a mega bitch.

Are you aware of who owns Al Jazeera? What if I told you that the people who own Al Jazeera are the same people who fund ISIS?
So, you think that the "news" network of the dictator family who rules Qatar, funds ISIS and funds extremists all over the world is super legit, huh?
Now, I'm willing to bet that if a "news" network was owned by the government of America or Israel, you'd DEFINITELY think its a propaganda network (which it probably would be). But a network owned by the dictator family of Qatar? Yeah, that's totally on the level.

haha wouldn't be against that from a personal perspective .. but you've been gotten to by all these crash stories and air disaster specials .. 1000s upon 1000s of flights take off and land every day without incident .. you're more likely to die in a car crash than die in a plane crash

This. Fox News is a joke of a propaganda network. They've cleaned house a bit since getting rid of the likes of Glenn Beck, but overall they only exist to scare ignorant Middle Americans. MSNBC is basically a lite version of Fox for hippie liberals. And CNN thinks everything is 'Breaking News' and they eat mostly off of race-based controversies.
Al Jazeera America is a good deal higher quality than all the other news networks.

Something is really fishy here. The US and Great Britain sure came to a conclusion really fast. It took a few days for them to "think" that there was a bomb by ISIS on that plane. From what I heard a British missile was used to bring that plane down. What a coincidence. Putin will deal with ISIS, but there is something seriously shady. I know that Obama and friends want to make Putin look bad or pay.

Some of the liberal fascists on here who are borderline rejoicing over this tragedy are proving what utter disgraces they are as human beings. Honestly, you prats (Deuces, Don) are just as bad as that 9er guy rejoicing over a black person being shot or Lensanity laughing over the murder of 'pigs' - you're both incessant moralisers and losers who think their political opinions grant them a special moral status, and yet you both evidently have the personal morality the Marquis de Sade. You think the people on here who believe Putin has done the right thing in Syria would be rejoicing had an American plane gone down in the same way, just because it makes Obama look bad? Well, take whatever you would think about such a person, and apply it to your miserable selves, as that is exactly what you're doing.
If Russians being targeted in this way, it's because they are doing severe damage to ISIS, more in fact, in a few weeks, than America has done in the last couple years of posturing and absurd moral judo from American politicians like McCain, Clinton, Obama and Kerry. Unlike the Americans, Russia is actually making a concerted attempt to get rid of ISIS and other fanatic sects in Syria, while America and Obama have only pretended to care:
[QUOTE]Russian planes carried out 71 sorties and 118 air strikes against Islamic fighters in Syria over the past two days compared to just one air strike by the US-led coalition

It was a political issue from the get go, orchestrated by Putin himself.
Just what are you talking about?
Yeah, Putin orchestrated all the trouble that has recently erupted in the Middle East, it has nothing to do with America traipsing around the world 'liberating' countries and toppling evil tyrants - sure...Putin created the proliferating atmosphere of terrorist activity of the past couple decades - it was Putin and not the CIA arming Islamic extremists all these years - damn, it's so simple, how didn't i realise before? Putin is to blame for everything.
It's a 'political issue' when a civilian airliner is blown to smithereens, and, no doubt, Putin's fault too!

Funny, for all your professed intelligence and claims to 'scientific accuracy,' you still don't even understand the meaning of the words you use.
An irony?
What is ironic about it exactly? In what way was it unexpected or humorous? Really, nothing could be less ironic - experience has already shown, numerous times, that attacking ISIS will bring reprisals. This is no more 'ironic' than it was ironic that ISIS filmed the decapitation of American citizens after the initial US-led coalition airstrikes. Oh, how ironic! Obama said he was gonna degrade and destroy ISIS, and now they're beheading Americans...bwahahaha...what mind-numbing irony.
That's you: you're a literal piece of shit, stuffed with all the conceit that comes as naturally as respiration to the pedantic academician; the sort of person who writes on the internet with pride things like 'dur.. i've only had time to read scientific journals these past 5 years, dur..' - no wonder you're so incapable of recognising any kind of nuance or subtlety - even a keen intelligence couldn't survive such an idiotic squandering of its resources as that. You're one of that sad class of people who constitute the mediocre in science, i.e. people without any real imagination, slow and unoriginal thinkers, those who worship the existing orthodoxies most vigorously, but who bring almost nothing of tangible value to the table themselves - essentially, a bunch of overestimated parrots.
fyi: Putin has 'stomped' IS in these past weeks more than Obama has in years of his 'degrading and destroying' - hence the reprisal, which was likely inevitable in one form or another (so again: not ironic).
