This has been said about 10+ players last year and this year.... and I don't blame anyone.

There are a good 10 elite players in the league right now, and with LeBron moving away from his peak, they're all so close together that I can't remember the last time it was so balanced at the top.

Durant, LeBron, Davis, Westbrook, Leonard, Griffin, Paul, Harden, Cousins, Curry...

I'm not sure how to rank these at all. Same story last year, with Howard being there aswell.

KD has the biggest all time ability, think we have to agree on that... he gets the nod if he performs accordingly, which I'm assuming will happen if healthy. No playoff flameouts. But lets also see how Bron's year goes. He looks better than last year.

Lebron and durant are locks. Leonard and cp3 shouldn't make anyone's top 5. So it's best 3 out of Russell Davis harden curry cousins and Blake with smart people going with Russell curry Davis. Not really that hard.

Curry is easily better then everyone else as well. Top 3 is easily Lebron, Durant (assuming healthy), and Curry. I don't think there's much of a debate.

You could definitely argue that AD or Westbrook or both are better than curry

No you really can't. Sure if you look at stats. But comparatively speaking, Westbrook is too ball dominant, less efficient, worse decision-maker that gets in the way of his teammates sometimes. There's no way the Warriors are winning with Westbrook over Curry, while the Thunder are at least just as good with Curry over Westbrook. He fits in much better on most teams, especially good teams, then Westbrook would.

AD just hasn't done anything to really compare. He obviously can do more things for you but he's yet to show that he's the explosive tone-setting/momentum-changing player that Curry is.

Look at the disagreements already..

and how can Kawhi still be severely underrated here :biggums:

Also, Griffin is insane.. I'd probably take him over Curry and Russ.

Spurs will beat the Cavs again? The last time the Spurs defeated the Cavs in the playoffs...hardly anyone knew who Barack Obama was...

1 Curry

big drop off

2 Lebron
3 Durant
4 Westbrook
5 Harden / Paul

You have been brainwashed by the Media to think Davis is top 5 but he's not even a top 10 player.

lebron durant westbrook cp3 davis and curry fighting for 5th

my tiers are as follows

curry
james
davis

leonard
cousins
durant
westbrook
paul

harden
irving
griffin

here's what's to bear in mind...

i don't think curry could stop wb in a game of 1v1
nor probably could lebron stop durant
davis would probably beat everybody

the point is that individual talent is not the only factor in the game.

what separates curry, davis, james from the rest, especially those on tier 2, is that they all share a place at the very high end of the basketball iq spectrum. curry and james primarily, davis is a freak who still has to prove himself in this regard... but he's showing all the signs. and you can put leonard in that category too, he just needs to refine his ball handling a bit more.

these guys play with a willingness toward good team basketball that is impossible to quantify. when they're on the floor, they bring an implicit reassurance to the rest of the team... okay things will be fine. there's just never any doubt they'll make the right play.

harden can knock down 12 stepback 3s in a row tomorrow for all i care. let russell westbrook rack up 40/15/15 on a regular basis. i'm sure cousins could put up shaq diesel numbers for the rest of the year if he put his mind into 06 kobe mode. they are monsters on an individual level and that's why they're among the top ten players in the league.

yet each of those other guys have some crucial flaw in their personality that makes them somewhat defective. it shows every time they touch the ball.

- for cousins and westbrook, its their massive egos... meaning as soon as they make a great play, they want to go for an even greater play, and then an even greater til eventually they're attempting impossibly futile feats
- for harden and irving, its their work ethic... meaning as soon as they touch they ball, their instinct is to back up and stare down the defender and try to cross him up because that's EASIER than screening the pf then curling hard toward the baseline corner
- for griffin and durant, its their confidence issues... meaning even when they do step up to the plate, they're in constant hesitation mode. i'd be happy to chock that up to each of them playing with very dominant personality pg's... but if they were as good as ppl say, that wouldn't stop them
- paul himself has a style of play that can be destructive of the very trust the top three players in the league all levy on their teammates in loads. that's why he's a notch down... plus he's just slowing down.

therefore etc

i agree with the op tho

top 5 / top 10 or what have you is meaningless out of context
