This was one helleva game. Bron wanted to go to the bench in the 4th, but the Bobcats just wouldn't go away. Like a true leader Bton put the Heat on his shoulders and carried them to victory against one of the league's top defense's.

1 less point than what Kobe scored...IN THREE QUARTERS against a championship contending Mavericks team that made it all the way to the Finals coming out of the tough West. (Kobe singlehandedly outscored the entire Mavs team through 3 quarters)

:biggums: Who do you think you're fooling bro? Everyone knows Western teams are soft and don't play any defense, which is why Kobe always struggles so much in the Finals when he has to play REAL defenses.
Lucky for him he usually has dominant big men to carry him to victory (see 2010 Finals game 7)

:biggums: Who do you think you're fooling bro? Everyone knows Leastern teams are sh*t and most wouldn't even make the playoffs in the West, which is why LeBron always struggles to win in the Finals when he plays REAL teams. Lucky for him he plays on stacked teams with multiple All-stars that carried him to 2 rings (see LeBron's entire career)

Kobe > Jordan. Deal with it.

Just imagine how many more 40/50/60 point games Kobe would've had had he:

1) Not had to hold back his scoring to appease Shaq

2) Had an adequate supporting cast during his PEAK scoring years (2005-2007)

3) Got to play in Jordan's era of no zone defense and one-on-one coverage with athletically inferior wings and less complex and specialized defensive schemes.

4) Had a HOF point-forward like Pippen setting up his scoring instead of having to play a dual Jordan/Pippen role by himself.

1) Not had to hold back his scoring to appease Shaq

In Kobe's 4th season at 22 years old, he only averaged 20 ppg for the season and 15 ppg on 35% in the Finals.

Should I remind you what MJ did as a 21 year-old??.. (he broke the playoff scoring record and averaged 44 ppg against the Celtics, who were all-time great team and the #1 defense in the league).

Jordan was far more dominant, and would've been the team's scoring leader alongside Shaq, while Kobe was 2nd fiddle and averaging 15 ppg.. now get your head out of your ass

2) Had an adequate supporting cast during his PEAK scoring years (2005-2007)

a better supporting cast REDUCES your stats - a player can stat-pad more on a shit team... everyone knows this.

3) Got to play in Jordan's era of no zone defense and one-on-one coverage with athletically inferior wings and less complex and specialized defensive schemes.

PREVIOUS ERA: paint-camping... no-spacing... hand-checking
TODAY'S ERA:..... shading.......... spacing.. ..no hand-checking

Today's 3-pointers/spacing forces defenders to help from further away - this makes offensive players more dangerous when they catch the ball and necessitates extra tactics like flooding so the ballhandler isn't so secluded by the spacing - but the flooding tactic simply makes the concentration of defenders equivalent to an un-spaced court where help defenders were already in closer proximity.

Lack of spacing and closer proximity of help defenders made previous eras better-equipped to handle a player that has the ball without needing risky gambles like flooding, where big men come away from the rim to flood in a mismatch outside the paint.. Instead, the lack of 3-point shooting kept offensive players closer to the paint, which allowed defenders to paint-camp when their man was in the paint or within 3 feet of either side (Rule 2b of Illegal Defense Guidelines).. Paint-camping is a more equitable way to defend the entire court, without necessitating the extra rotations and leaving guys wide open that flooding requires.

4) Had a HOF point-forward like Pippen setting up his scoring instead of having to play a dual Jordan/Pippen role by himself.

MJ's scoring in 1987 without Pippen:

37 ppg.. 3041 points... greatest scoring season since Wilt Chamberlain.

Poor MKG. He did everything he could and should, yet has this game by LeBron and Melo's 60-point game on his resume.

You know stats are f*cked up when this is considered a top 5 defense. Great performance, don't get me wrong but c'mon son.

Wasn't that the same defense that Carmelo dropped 62 on like a month before?

The two best defenses in the NBA came out of the West last year. 5 of the top 10 were from the West.

Don't play defense?
