So the good cop leaks the footage and then gets charged with a CRIME. But the good news is it was just a few (4) bad apples who beat the man, a few more bad apples who charged the good cop with a crime, and a few more bad apples that sat by idly and did absolutely nothing. That's a lot of bad apples. If there are "just a few bad apples" then how do they all end up working together all at the same time? If they made up less than 5% of cops like copsucking sheep claim then this shit would never ever happen.
Good cops get weeded out of the system.

Reminds me of ISH: The good posters get weeded out.

There are procedures in place for a reason. If I was overseas and saw something illegal going on, and instead of informing my chain of command, I just took a video of it and released it to the media, I'd be charged too.

There's nearly one million sworn officers with arresting powers. You found four. Congratulations. You must understand, even at 5% of police being corrupt (a high estimate, but I'll let you run with it), you're talking 50,000 officers. Do you really believe there are 50,000 police officers out there who get ready for work thinking 'how can I ruin someone's life today'?
If your justification for thinking all cops are corrupt is because you saw four of them behaving inappropriately, then statistically speaking, every black person you see on the street is likely in the act of committing a crime (the % of blacks with criminal offenses is much higher than your estimated corruptness among law officers).
See how that works?

Good on him for doing what was right, but he still broke the rules. There's a chain of command for a reason. If he brought it up to his superior, and they did nothing with it, there is always someone higher up to take it to.
All part of the process though. We got a few more bad cops off the streets, and dude in the video wins a lawsuit. Everyone's happy (except the guy who broke the rules).

You are very, very, very, very seriously uninformed. If you report other officers to the head of command absolutely nothing will happen. The person reporting it would probably be scolded for trying to get other cops in trouble. This officer knew that so he did the right thing. Slavery was legal. Rosa Parks wasn't supposed to sit on the front of the bus but she did it anyway. This man did the right thing and those ****ing **** sucking pigs tried to ruin his life for it.
Law enforcement is by far the most enticing profession to power whores, all around assholes/bullies, racists, criminals, fat people, and psychopaths.

Your opinion. I was an MP, and a Marine, for years, and I saw lots of bad things get corrected once it went up far enough. Your experience is probably far more authentic.

He did, but he still violated the rules. Whether it was morally right or wrong is irrelevant. As an employee of that department, he has rules to follow. He broke them. He loses his job. It's that simple.

And she was punished for it, wasn't she?

Little extreme, but everyone is entitled to their opinion.
