That's what you're getting wrong. They hype surrounding the game and the anticipation were probably higher than at any other point in the series, which makes the trailer the most memorable for you.

But as far as the trailer itself, it isn't anything special. In the moment it came out, because of the hype, then yes. But as far as what's in the trailer... it's not the best trailer ever. It's not even one of the best.

A trailer is merely a vessel to hype a game

Trailers aren't something that should be broken down without addressing the hype surrounding it, that would be stupid

Never could get into these games, tried so hard considering the hype (love FPS games), but this... its just so bad man? Why do so many think this game is good? I think its probably the most overrated game/series in human history, its not bad, but wtf... just another mainstream fps a la wannabe "better" quake or unreal tournament or something...

It was the best of the genre

It seamlessly combined so many different elements of game types into such a polished and perfected package, complete with perfect narrative and theater production value.

Loved the Arkham games, the trailers were always exciting. Unfortunately the quality dropped pretty sharply after AA/AC but the trailers still had that spark of intrigue for me just because the first two were so good. Probably the greatest superhero video games ever in AA/AC.

Phantom Pain trailer was excellent too, MGS seems like a franchise that is just built for great trailers.

I was blown away by Uncharted 2 trailer in 2009 as well.
