Pistons can make it far this year but I predict they will face the Hawks in an earlier round.

That would set viewership lows for an ECF.

While I have a lot of faith in Van Gundy coaching [either of them], it's a bit optimistic that they hit the conference finals one year after missing the playoffs and with such an inexperienced roster.

Not to mention they haven't had a winning record and deep playoff push since 2008. They just lost to a winless Pacers team with their bench scoring 2 points.

Not a chance. And the Pistons are my team.
Giving that contract, along with the keys to the team, to Reggie Jackson will be the bane of Van Gundy's existence. He can't shoot, and he's not a point guard, even though they're paying him to be one. He can't run an offense. He has poor court vision and awareness. All he can do is drive to the rim, which he does well, but that's not all they're paying him to do. He should be coming off the bench as a 6th man scoring guard. Terrible signing and positioning.
Aside from that, the bench is too weak. Getting Jennings back will help at the PG spot, and Stanley Johnson is going to be really good, but it's too thin everywhere else.

I'm a big SVG fan and I think he'll have the Pistons contending for a playoff spot, but c'mon. Barring major injuries to the opponent, I can't see them beating the Cavs, Hawks, Heat, Bulls, Wizards, or Raptors in a playoff series.

You think the NBA would let that happen? :lol That would probably be the least watched conference finals series of all time.

Huge Pistons and Drummond fan but ECF c'mon son.
Best case scenario 6th seed and beats the Raps or Bulls in the first round.

Eh, wouldn't say that. Toronto hasn't really proven anything either.

It's been sort of fun to bask in the premature Pistons hype that comes with a 3-1 start. I'll take it while it lasts, because that six game West Coast road trip is probably going to snuff most of this talk out.

Always interesting to see how that series has been canonized but at the time, all anyone did was complain about how offensively deficient and boring those two teams were.

I would be happy with the OP's scenario. I'd root for Detroit over Atlanta though.
