View Full Version : When has CP3 ever been the best PG in the League?

Deron was the better PG in his prime. Then it was debatable with Rose / Westbrook emerging and now its clear as daylight that Curry is head and shoulders above CP3.

Maybe the MVP season, MAYBE.

He's never been the best PG in the league. Just another statpadding career loser. Dude has the most stacked team in the league by far and he still can't get it done. Pathetic.

Agreed. Some guys just can't man up and finish. CP3 needs to go back to insurance selling.

It's one thing for a respectable poster from a respectable fanbase to rag on an underachieving player, but not a shit poster from a fanbase with a record of 0-82

Not maybe, he was clearly the best PG from 08 til 13. Last and current season goes to Curry

2007-2013 At least

Deron was never better. He played in a system that made him look good.

CP3 is still the second best point guard in the league. Russel Westbrook is a better wing than CP3, but not a better point guard.

Curry took over the #1 spot last year, but it was close.

you do realize that at 22 CP3 was leading the league in assists AND steals, while average 21 ppg on 57 TS%, leading the league in WS AND WS/48

I think he's the only PG to have a 30 PER season (just googled, this is true. Curry did 28 PER last season which is the second best, unless you count Dwade as a PG)

Well, in 2008 he was the best PG of the millenium. And maybe the best PG since Magic. So maybe that year.

When has Westbrook or Rose ever been better? :oldlol: No, Deron was never close..

Paul was the best PG from 2008-2014.

Deron was close. Anybody who watched basketball back then would know that was a heated debate. Just because Deron has been dog shit for the last 4 years doesn't change that.

D-Will also used to get the better of their matchups which was his biggest claim to being better.

Granted, I thought CP3 was a tad better than Deron, but lets not act like it wasn't a debate. It was probably one of the most talked about comparisons.

Deron's reliance on Sloan and the Jazz system ended those debates retrospectively

Prime Paul scored, rebounded and assisted more than Deron, and he was a much better defender and a more efficient scorer.

Stop it. Deron wasn't better than Paul, ever.

Trademark NBA hype machine, he was Harden 1.0. Only top tier due to refs calling flops as fouls.

Warriors are the most stacked team in the league by far right now dumbass. Look at their role players. It's like an allstar lineup of 3-D guys. It's reminiscent of the recent Spurs teams.

2006 - Nash
2007 - Nash
2008 - Paul
2009 - Paul
2010 - Nash/Deron (Literally the only year you can argue Deron over Paul due to Paul's injury)
2011 - Rose
2012 - Paul
2013 - Paul
2014 - Paul
2015 - Curry
2016 - Curry so far

Dude's been the best PG in the league for half of his career.... How can you argue Deron over Paul when Deron's never made the all star team nor all NBA team over Paul other than 2010? He used to give CP3 some match up problems, but he was never considered better than Paul.

Kinda like how Yao used to take a huge dump on Dwight every time they played.... but Dwight was pretty much seen as the better player overall.

It wasn't a heated debate at first...At first it was unanimously CP3. Then Deron starting getting love and it became a debate but Deron was never really considered outright better than CP3.

Melo owns Durant Head-to-head.
Cousins owns Davis Head-to-head.

Inferior players owning better players due to size or speed advantage doesn't make them better.

I get the Paul hate (he's a flopper, he's whiny, he has come up short in big situations), but the idea that he's never been the best PG in the NBA is absolutely hysterical.

He had one of the best peaks for a PG ever, yet Deron Williams was better than him every year from 06-11? In 08 Paul put up a 21/4/12 with great defense and efficiency and had a Playoff run of 24/5/11, leading the Playoffs in PER, WS/48 and Box +/-. And he wasn't even the best player at his position that year?

Not overwhelmingly enough vs coming up big that you could cite it a flaw.
