Who's got more potential to be the face of their league?
Connor McDavid- injured, but has showed he can dominate. Already touted as better than Crosby coming in
Todd Gurley- Came in injured and had tons of questions. Is pretty much the best RB in the league if the NFL started 3 weeks ago
Who you got?

RBs don't have much staying power
but at the same time I wouldn't be surprised if mcdavid winds up being a bust

He's hockey's next thing to Gretzky or Lemuiex. Kid does things with the puck better than prime Crosby

1) McDavid is easily better than Crosby, and his play (and stats) will prove that very quickly.
2) McDavid is one in a generation type of talent; he could end up being the greatest hockey player to ever live.
3) McDavid won't be a bust. :oldlol: The kid already has 12 points in 13 games before the injury. He's only like 19. Wait till he adjusts to the speed of the game and builds up his body.
4) McDavid has arguably the best skating ability I have ever seen from a 19 year old kid and quite easily best moves. Just look at the way he goes around defenders due to his speed and skating ability; and his stick handling is out of this world. He also has a very accurate shot. Again, he is only 19 years of age. I won't be surprised to see him drop 200 points in a season and be close to 80/90 goals in his prime.
In conclusion, McDavid is FAR FAR FAR more promising.
Lets just say this; if we saw a rookie Randy Moss enter the NFL this season, McDavid would still look more promising.

Adrian Peterson was a better prospect than Todd Gurley I think. He's the only recent football player in the past 10 or so years that could have gone to the NFL directly after his senior year of high school or freshman year of college. He was choosing between Miami, USC, and OU. I remember a lot of people wondered why he never considered UT since he's from Texas. He claims he almost went to USC until deciding on OU because it was closer to home. When Vikings drafted him #7 overall, I know they got a steal even if Peterson had an injury riddled career I knew he would be a stud. Now he's a future HOFer.

McDavid, imo. I don't buy the Gretzky hype but it's definitely possible that he turns out better than Crosby. The best part about the hype that he's drawing so far this season is that it's not just for what he can do with the puck, he's also being recognized for his maturity off the puck and the intelligence of his general play.
One of my cousins is actually friends with McDavid.

The most impressive thing to me is his progression in the junior level.
I've posted his numbers.
That's why I think he'll be sensational.
I am excited to watch him play when he is 24-25 years of age.

His junior progression is definitely impressive.
I'll try to follow his recovery as closely as possible, my cousin has stayed in touch with him all through the season so far so I'm hoping I can get some extra info that way. :oldlol:

That's sick, your cousin might end up being friends with the greatest hockey player that ever lived.
It's scary how many similarities I see with Connor and Gretzky.

Personally I'm going to stay away from any Gretzky comparisons until he gets a few years under his belt but the potential is definitely real. The NHL could really use a new superstar imo, hopefully McDavid turns out to be it.

Who the **** is McDavid?
I read the thread so I know now, but I can tell you the next phenom will definitely be Gurley. NFL >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> hockey

The league has something unreal with Kane, Stamkos, Benn, Seguin, Ovechkin, Crosby, Price.... people should really take note Hockey is at it's finest skill point. Fact, McDavid is better at this stage in his career than any mentioned
BTW, Gurley is a beast. He's a guaranteed lock no.1 fantasy pick for years to come

DaHeezy is right about Hockey being in a really good spot talent wise. But the reason the answer is Gurley is because Hockey's playoffs on the WE Network, and the NFL is the biggest sports media business in the world that actually dictates to it's broadcasters what it does, and has single handedly kept DirecTV in business.

McDavid looks amazing, better than I thought he would be this early on. So proved me wrong. McDavid has 12 points in 13 games and 5 goals. League was different but Ovy scored 52/106 his rookie season, all tho he was older. Crosby put up 102 points. Ovy finished 3rd overall in points, Crosby finished 6th so even with the inflated scoring they were in the NHL elite. McDavid is currently tied for 24th last I checked.
McDavid could easily surpass Crosby. Sky's the limit. I don't buy the Gretzky stuff. Especially given the different era's. Even if he ends up more talented than Gretzky he'll never be put into the position to destroy the league like him. Gretzky re-wrote the record book unlike anybody else in any sport.
Injury sucks tho. About the only thing that can de-rail his career.

Don't get ahead of yourself.
Crosby had 100 point seasons at age 18 and 19.
His 120 points in his second year(age 19) is his career best.
Unfortunately Crosby has seemed to sustain A LOT of injuries over the years, which will leave many wondering what could have been.

McDavid had it going after the slow start and matched Crosby's production until that point in the season. McDavid could have easily hit 100. Eberle has returned which would have helped increase point total.

I say McDavid. Running backs don't have the longevity that other positions do. There aren't many other positions in sports where you are considered "over the hill" at 30.
