To this day it is absolutely unbelievable how this guy dropped so hard in the draft. He was consensus number one for a good part of HS

Because he looked dumb/goofy and couldn't make free throws. Mistakes were made.

By seasons end, he will be averaging 13.2ppg and 10.8rpg, and the Pistons will be on the borderline of making the post-season.

He averaged about 14/14 last year and now he's the go-to low post scorer...pretty sure he'd average at least 16/15 this year. 18/15 before Jennings come back.

If he can continue to find some ways to bully to within three feet then just drop the ball in (as he did against Rudy Gobert) then he could be on to something. But then again, your 16 points prediction doesn't seem far-fetched, though we'll probably also have to account for the dip to his totals that will come as his free throw percentage comes back down to earth. He shot 38 percent from the line in preseason (par for his career) but is randomly shooting almost 60 percent after a hot start in his first two regular season games. If he truly got that semi-figured out, then he'd be a real problem.

ESPN Stats and Info

Andre Drummond had another monster game to start out his season, scoring 25 points and grabbing 29 rebounds in a 94-82 loss to the Indiana Pacers Tuesday.

The Pistons have started off 3-1, much in part to Drummond

He definitely doesn't have the scorer's touch. He's bullying his way inside and hoping he gets a friendly roll off the rim. At least he's comfortable and wants to be down there though. If he becomes better at helping on screens and contesting shots, he'll be a force to be reckoned with. He reminds me of a little like Kevin Love...getting rebounds is his #1 priority.

Dwight Howard is better. He was invited to the kardashian wedding, he made finals. This clown never even made playoffs

Yea I am real glad the Raps decided to draft TRoss instead, really dodged a bullet there.

He used to settle for position way more often, firing up awful post attempts from 10 feet.

His lack of touch combined with his sheer mass actually makes him kind of an interesting player. A lot of his offensive rebounds are second and third attempts on plays some other players may have just finished in the first place. But then again, there's a lot of players without touch and they're not averaging 20 & 20 right now. Despite whatever shortcomings he has, he's making it work right now.

Because he only averaged 10 ppg and 7 rpg in college, while shooting 28% from the line.

Not seeing the Anthony Davis comparison at all

I will say that he is heading to prime Dwight Howard time and unlike Prime Howard I think Drummond can make it last a bit longer and do it just a bit better.

Stans done the right thing in dumping Monroe and building around Drummond in the paint and I think Pistons will benefit from it. Not too sure they have the guys around him to go much further then 1st round exit still

no pun intended

He would be #2 on my MVP ballot (behind Curry), if the voting was held right now.

He won't be able to keep it up for a full season obviously, but I could see him averaging something like 18/15, and making not only the All-star team but also All-NBA.

Man.
His rebounding numbers are monstrous. Peak Rodman level.
His 18.36% offensive rebounding percentage is the highest since 97 Rodman who played 3 less minutes and was in much more of a specialist/roleplayer role.

Before that there is really no other guy who can compare except for Moses Malone the GOAT offensive rebounder.

Oh and Jayson Williams arguably has the best Peak year for ORebounding with an absurd 20.5% ORB rate back in 1998.
He also shot .666 from the FT line that year. :durantunimpressed:
__________________________________________________

Drummond's 27.9 TRB% percentage is the highest ever or since 71 when the stat started getting tracked for those who qualified according to BBREF.

Wait sorry.
Rodman bettered him (once) in 1995 with a 29.7% mark.

So he has the second highest mark ever though 95 Rodman played 6-mpg less and in a smaller role.

Outside of Rodman no one really approaches him.

Ben Wallace hit 23% once.
DeAndre hit 24.5% last year in 34-mpg.
Boerwinkle hit 22% in 71 (for Wilt fans).

But yeah from a statistical standpoint his current rebounding numbers are way off even the GOAT scale.

:biggums:

Obviously he is not going to maintain those numbers but still it is impressive.

Playing like the best player and definitely the MVP of the East so far.
