i couldnt envision a worst end to a career

to me this really hurts kobes legacy

he was the guy that was supposed to be the most skilled, legendary longevity, never give up attitude

now hes just being exposed. hes really not any good, and relied mostly on athleticism, shot volume, and legendary big men

I'm confused. Do you want Kobe to retire or not?

Of course I want him to retire. He sucks and is painful to watch. However, Kobe shouldn't be making comments like this early in the season while his team is trying to stay competitive and possibly compete for an 8th seed. No player wants to hear their leader talking about retirement just 5 games into the season, or witness them skipping practice because they are "really angry" :hammerhead:

:whatever:

because you can't have a drop off at 37 coming off serious injuries. anything past around 34 is an acceptable age to drop off. Don't have to have relied on athleticism for but for a scoring guard your legs start to give which can effect your shot and you just aren't as quick as everyone else. Unless you are a great shooter or a big man it becomes hard.

What's up with OP constantly making threads about a player who's supposedly "irrelevant"?

Kind of defeats the purpose, no?

ShaqTwizzle

Nothing strange about his quote.
Kobe will obviously retire if he doesn't start playing better.
He won't embarrass himself on purpose even if the cucked Lakers would probably allow it.

On the other hand if he starts playing better and finishes out the season on a strong note then he could theoretically decide to come back.

I haven't watched Kobe this year so I can't personally say how bad I think he looks or if there is hope for improvement.

The stats certainly paint a grim picture.
His current PER = 13.2

Even Boston Shaq had a PER above 17.
Then again its only been 5-6 games... not much of a sample size.

Dude, Kobe imo is the most overrated guy ever. Still he was great. He's not just lost his athletic ability, he's about a 60 year old man in leg life. You can't skill your way around the stuff he's been through. He's just done and it happens. Age always wins.

He had a great career. Playing in LA inflated his value and thus people want to shoot him down (in part because his fans are idiots). But still this is what happens to people and he like most greats didn't think he couldn't work through it. Guess what, age plus injuries aren't things you can get through.

The hell? Compete for an 8 seed? That was NEVER and I mean NEVER possible. With that logic the t wolves are going for the title this year. They just got the first pick after all!

I agree with this. I think Kobe finally realized his body is too beat up and his lack of athleticism today really hinders him. He still shoots way too often despite noticing he's "200th" best in the league. He's like that stubborn little kid who never wants to let go of his candy.

Russell won't be able to develop more until Kobe stops single handily taking them out of a close game with his inefficiency and shot selection.

His reputation and legacy will take a hit when he retires after 3 mediocre injury riddled non playoff seasons. If I'm the Buss family, I wouldn't offer him that 2 year extension for anything more than 30 mil. Then tell Kobe we need to develop a new team and by the time of a new contract, we will be in the rebuilding process and cannot continuously overpay you to slow the development of all of our young players

Fcking Kobe going out like a little btch. Never seen something like this in my life. One of the all time greats shitting on himself. I never get involved with this drama but it's stupid. Lakers fans shouldn't have patience just because he brought rings to them. Every teams goal is to bring championships. He needs to play what his fcking contracts worth. Stop bringing down the team with you
