if he signs an extension past this season then he lied... only just now does he realize hes not averaging over 19ppg anymore

last year he was at 22.3ppg.. so even coming into this season he was under the impression that he could do it

He knew his athleticism was fading in 2012, and he didnt have the skills or fundamentals to score at least 18-19 points as his career moves on.

He seems like a smart individual. He called it before any one of us did.

So much fail in that statement. I guess it was always about stats and (try to) being "the man" for Kobe, not about playing as a high scoring role player for a hypothetical contending Lakers, which they could have been if he didn't chase D12 out of town.

Since 2010 Kobe has been a tragedy to the Lakers.

I still think he could score 20ppg on something like 42%. It's less a skill issue and more a mentality one, mainly the refusal to accept that he doesn't have the legs to be out there chucking 3s anymore. 15 feet and in, mid/low post area I think his skills can still carry him in situations where his body can't. But then, shot selection has always been the great differential between MJ and Kobe, on top of overall athleticism/explosiveness.
