A group of 5 or so black people. Why is it that everytime I'm on campus and a group of 5 or so black people walk by or are around, they are sooooo loud? They are all close together but they still have to yell and laugh sooo loud. I don't really care, this isn't racist, it's truth from my own experiences and I am just fascinated and want to know why every person in the vicinity up to a mile away all of a sudden is forced to hear Shaniqua call Tyrone nappy while Jasmine laughs so hard milk comes out of her nose. Then Rondell will be like, "EWW U IS DIRTYY!" Then one of them always busts a jiggy and does a little dance right in the middle of the road. Does anyone else know what I am talking about? Anybody i bring this up to agrees This is serious. I don't know what makes this formula so loud and I want to know. Someone explain. NOT being racist either.

stereotypical thoughts dont necessarily have to be racist. imo it turns to racism when you take those stereotypical thoughts and actually believe them or spread them around as if they are the absolute truth 100% of the time.

interesting, i never really thought about that. its probably like that because most of us are so uncomfortable talking about racism, especially with people of other races, that we want to do everything possible to try to not offend some one, because we really just want to have a real discussion. but in trying to explain that your not trying to offend them, you are kind of just acknowledging that racism is still much too present in our society.

the loudest people i encounter are jamaican women between like 20 and 40. i work with some jamaicans in the summer and know a bunch of others that i dont work with, and the women can get really loud. interestingly enough the jamaican guys i know are usually pretty quiet.

You get 4-5 people together of any race and they start talking loud and obnoxious. Suddenly they're doing things they wouldn't do or say if it was just one or two of them. Normally it's not too bad, but every once in awhile you'll get some knuckle head that thinks he's clever and has to talk **** to people walking by.

There's a group of white pickup drivin' Apistolic Lutherans that always hang out in this parking lot by Starbucks and across the street from a grocery store. And I mean always. Like a huge ****ing group of them. 20-30 cars. Lots of dumb, ignorant, tobacco chewin' bigots over there. Real good times.

They're not allowed to own TVs, so they compensate by hanging out in parking lots, smoking cigarettes and drinking coffee. They used to hang out in the parking lot of another grocery store that closed down, but got kicked out of there after someone pulled down a light post with their truck. Most of the store owners pretty much let them get away with all kinds of dumb **** because 1) there's so many of them 2) they're all related somehow (lots of second cousins marrying). Because of this, they represent a huge commercial asset that no one wants to offend, even if they did something legitimately wrong.

I called the cops on the dumbasses one night for lighting off bottle rockets in the middle of the parking lot while people were still driving around. I mean wtf, have some common sense.

Black people care less about school than asians or whites in america on average
White people have an odd smell when wet
White people cant jump like blacks
Hispanics(Puerto Ricans maybe most) carry blades more than others
Asians drive slow

i have heard many people say that, im not sure if i buy that. i dont think everyone has to be racist. we arent born racist, so if you are never taught racism and never exposed to the generalizations and such, than why can't you be truly not racist?

No one's ever going to hear 'racist' and just think someone is talking about race-specific characteristics, like black guys jumping high or something. To add to what you are saying, I think we all in some way have stereotypes. But that does not mean we expect that those stereotypes would hold true for everyone. I live in a snooty suburb, biggest house on the block and I'm black. Neighbors hate it. Well my parents house, but same thing. Dad and I and a guy from church just built an add on that makes it by far the biggest on the block, doesn't even look right in this neighborhood anymore.

Where do you live that there's more chicken places in the burbs than in the hood? You can get chicken damn near anywhere you can get food. KFCs, Popeye's, McDonald's, and the like are everywhere in my city and in fact more of them are on the main streets so as to avoid likely being directly "in the hood."

You just accept them as "one of the good ones, the exception." It's not uncommon at all really. My mom generally distrusts white people, especially women, yet has tons of white friends. She met them at work, grew up with them, school, whatever the case and eventually realizes that that stereotype she has doesn't apply to this particular one (in this case white lady) and has no problem with her.

I could name a lot of black guys who would fit into that mold where a white guy could say they think like me, act like me, talk like me, etc. more than the stereotypical view I have of their race. And not that StuartScott dude, because I was just joking in that topic. But my dad, for example, doesn't fit any stereotype of black people that I can think of other than liking chicken and having high blood pressure as a result of his diet which consists of too much soul food.

Still, find me the most racist white dude you can. Well maybe not totally the most racist but one who is pretty racist and invite him to some get together and introduce him to my dad, or maybe they meet by working at the same job. He'll come around to him I swear. May not enlighten him to the point he realizes "you know what, maybe skin color isn't predisposing to any particular characteristic and it's just individuals" by just meeting 1 or 2 exceptions, but even the most racist people have the common sense to realize that just by sheer numbers (how many black people total exist?), all of us can't be the same and he would look at my dad as one of the good ones.

And just like there are studies that claim black people have longer achilles tendons and higher calves naturally (and just as many that claim they don't, just depends what you want to believe), there are also those that claim white people have a larger mental capacity (and again many that say they don't).

People like to be politically correct, so you'll rarely hear an announcer or someone who is a public figure make a statement like "he jumps high and runs fast for being white" because then they think that'll open the door to making other generalizations like white being smarter, and many other generalizations that have a stronger social impact if believed and thusly wouldn't be taken as easily.

but overall I agree with Zan Tabak.... Everyone's culture and the way they interact with others is so fascinating....there is so much to learn from other people's interactions... Since I got married I have two new cultures since my wife is Italian and Puerto Rican.......

Italians have great interaction between each other, Puerto Ricans do too....Asian interaction is harder to get a grasp on because they speak in their native languages so much you almost get paranoid they are talking about you.....

I just personally look forward to learning more about others because it makes me smarter and more prepared when I have to deal with these people.. I wont step on any cultural landmines if I have been paying attention

When I'm around a large group of white guys, they say things they wouldn't normally say in the presence of a black person. That's what I call "out of the pocket". I get around a group of them and egg them on, so they can talk out of the pocket. Know why I do that? I get to see the so called classy white race acting dumb and ignorant. I also learn some valuable things too about the culture of the white race. I don't put my hands over my ears and storm out of the building. I'll go in the lions den and hold my own. I've had white people say thing to me like:

Yeah, it has to do with culture, not ethnicity. I don't claim to be an expert or to have much experience, but people from the ghetto tend to be marginalized and under-educated, because society doesn't care much about the poor and ghetto culture doesn't tend to value education, so maybe ghetto kids are a) starved for attention from people other than their ghetto neighbours, and/or b) ignorant and a clumsy kind of socially aggressive because they haven't learned **** in school and their parents don't teach or don't care how they behave. And it could just be part of the culture to laugh and talk loudly, whether or not there is an "audience".

Again, I'm talking about people from poor neighbourhoods, not blacks. I would assume that most, or at least many, young black people don't go to public places and embarrass themselves all the time. Just the young, dumb ones, just like with any race. Where I come from most of the poor people are either trailer park trash white people or Lebanese/Italian/Portugese/Polish immigrants, not black people. And they are ignorant, loud, obnoxious, and attention-starved too. Groups of Lebanese will walk up to you in the street and try to pick fights with you for no reason, seriously.
