View Full Version : Who will hand the Warriors their first L?

I would've said the Grizzlies a year ago, but now they stink. I do believe they face the Clippers on the 19th which the Clippers could take, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say that it will be the Jazz who take them down on 11/30.
Legit though, of all the teams I see in November, these two (and possibly the Raps) pose the biggest threats.

clippers will beat them if they are undefeated up to that point....but they will lose one of the next two games IMO

A bad warriors shooting night on a back to back against an opponent with great interior defense.
I predict someone unimagined, like Utah.
Bulls on November 20th (after spending lots of energy beating the clippers the night before)
then the Jazz on November 30th.
First two losses.

cavs got a lot of size tbh. If there is a team constructed to beat the warriors it's them. Everybody says to beat the warriors you need to play fast, but the warriors are very beatable in a proper halfcourt set. They get out of rythm, can't run, get posted up a lot, get tired, imo they lack a personel to handle a proper big lineup (especially for an entire series).
The only big western lineups can't (memphis-poor backcourtl) or won't (clippers-dumb) set a slow pace for the game. Jury is still out on the new spurs, they seem a bit soft.
Another team that might give the warriors consistent trouble is chicago, but they swing wildly between nice offense and an iso brickfest.

Who says that? That's far from true. You can't beat the Warriors playing at their pace, they are too good at that. As LeBron showed in the finals last year, if you slow down the pace of the game to a crawl the Warriors look very human

Agree the Clips/Bulls back-to-back should be tough, although not much travel.
Utah is tough against PGs and will be at home so Nov 30 looks like a tough game.
A 6-game road trip in early December - you'd think they'd have 1 off-shooting night someday, right?
If I only had one pick for the lottery, I'd go Clips Nov 19.

First two losses.Clippers gave warriors a good hard run tonight before they had yet another meltdown at home.
Bulls aren't 100% anymore, but rested all day watching tape today.
no pun intended

I hope the Lakers do. Assuming the Warriors win their next two, they'll tie the NBA record for best start of the season at 15-0. It'll be poetic to have the shitty Lakers prevent them from going 16-0.

Considering their schedule for the upcoming two weeks, it is impossible for me to see this streak end without them vastly underachieving; the record-breaking seasonal start is truly that imminent. The Bulls look like the biggest threat on the cursory check I did if they can capitalize against the Warriors who are on the latter unit of their back-to-back games; even then, Roaracle is hungry to see this record-breaking start come to fruition and won't infuse any shortage of energy in the team.
It's really an unbelievable culture that this Warriors team has. Whenever they start off sluggishly and look complacent enough that they need their seemingly first loss to shake out of lethargy, they are elastic enough that it only takes early-game gut checks for them to make a commanding run.
Only injuries to the BITW in Stephen Curry will derail them from eclipsing the '96 Bulls' 72-10 record.

Anyone have stats on hand about when the last time a team did an unbeaten run at the start of the season? Like 15-0 or something? did the team end up winning the championship/2nd round playoffs etc?

I think one of those championship Rockets teams started 14-0.

That's mostly correct; 1994 Houston Rockets team started out 15-0, yet only ended up 58-24 before the championship-winning playoff run that year. That's currently the NBA record for a season-starting winning streak.

The Bulls have been 10 points per 100 possessions BETTER with Rose on the bench this season. That's the difference between being a #1 seed team and a team that misses the playoffs.
