If Kobe really wants a spot, he's getting a spot.

He's getting the 92 Larry "start for opening tip, then wheelchaired off quick" Bird role

I mean the dude was talking about earning his spot last year. Now that he's not playing well and reality is setting in he's talking about how he can add leadership to the team? Rofl back-peddling.

It worked for Rose :confusedshrug:

If Kobe's healthy and wants to play they'll give him a spot for everything he stands for.

Yes Bird was 35 and a total shell of his former self by then, yes Bird was playing post-surgeries and under career ending injuries, yes Bird lost most of his mobility and such, yes Bird couldn't play many games, stayed nights at the hospital, couldn't even stand sitted on the bench many times...
BUT he STILL averaged 20/10/7/1/1 on .547 TS% for the 45 games he played in the 1991-92 NBA regular-season.

At the Olympics, Larry played 8 games, started 3... Didn't play many minutes but still was capable of being their 5th best rebounder, of having more assists than Karl, D-Rob or Ewing, of having made the 2nd most 3's...

He was the man of the match vs Germany, leading all scorers with 19 points.
He put up 10/6/6/2 vs Lithuania, not playing much.

Not to mention that he was obviously a big-time leader, influence, so on...

Yea, that's really "start for opening tip, then wheelchaired off quick"
