That was nice, but not as nice as some of us taking the initiative to draft Mo Williams on our fantasy teams really late in the draft.

How is that a nasty dunk on Gobert? He clearly realized that he rotated late and does not even try to challenge the dunk.

Rotated too late to block the shot. All you can do in that situation is let him dunk, or foul him and probably give him an and one.

LeBron has 14 points and the game is in the 4th quarter. D on him has been pretty good.

Because he ****ing dunked on gobert.... tf bruh

You clearly see him gather his feet to attempt a block but changes his mind

We disagree on the definition of "dunked on." If a defender decides to slide to the side instead of challenging the shot, you're not really dunking on him.

Thread/video should be re-named "LeBron dunks near Gobert."

If you dunk on someone you dunked on someone :confusedshrug:

You can see he even bends his knees to jump but Bron was too quick

Difference of opinion. Still meh for me. If that's the worst Gobert gets dunked on all year, I'll take it.

:oldlol: Gobert was in position to contest that at the rim but was shook as **** and backed down. This happens against Lebron all the time

His back hurt his ball handling last year. He wasn't getting low when dribbling, leading to a bunch of turnovers.

Disappointing. Ugly dunk and Gobert didn't have great positioning to challenge it.

Thread/video should be re-named "LeBron dunks near Gobert."Not a big deal either way, but I thought Gobert was pretty square to James in this case, standing shoulder to shoulder and even bending his knees to prepare for a contest before thinking better.

Obviously the resulting impact of the dunk is a little less because Gobert opted out of the challenge (could have been a touch too late by his own estimation, as you mentioned) but he still arrived in plenty of time to get dunked on.

He didnt rotate late, he just like everybody knows that contesting Lebron up there when he makes his good 1-2 takeof of the left leg results in a poster, and 1 or a foul... he could have maybe contested it though by the looks of it, Lebron didnt get so high up like he can (could?).

When Lebron sees & does that straight aircraft runway/takeof to the hoop all you can do is foul/flagrant foul (preferably try wrap him up before he gets to the basket) or try flop for a charge.... i have NEVER seen somebody block Lebron just once after he initiated his patterned takeof, have you?

I couldn't agree more - Lebron's dunk was his standard one-legger ballerina dunk, whereas Wiggins' dunk was hop-step and two-feet like a man:

I think that was game 5 of the Atlanta series in 97. He'd just turned 34 then, I think.
But yeah, tremendous dunk there. Deke was baiting him all series long and told the media that MJ had never been able to dunk on him. When Jordan did that, the Bulls local commentator yelled "Jordan got his dunk on Mount Montumbo!"

I really don't know why Lebron never entered a dunk contest. Even if they were boring, he would probably just win on his name alone. Ship's sailed by now, though.

I really don't know why Lebron never entered a dunk contest. Even if they were boring, he would probably just win on his name alone. Ship's sailed by now, though.I always figured it had to do with a lack of creativity. I've seen him replicate a lot of dunks in layup lines but nothing altogether unique. Maybe he didn't feel he had much innovation to offer.

Like you said though, if the high school contest was any indication, he would have received high scores simply for being who he was. I always thought prime James could have had a "behind the free throw line" dunk in the repertoire; like Serge Ibaka's but cleaner and smoother.

LeBron isn't an idiot, so he doesn't go for creativity unless it's on a fast break, in which case you will see him mix it up and show off for the crowd. If there's any chance of him being blocked, he goes for a simple, quick power finish, because that's the smart thing to do and he's a smart player.

he's not a smart player, compared to Bird or MJ - if Lebron was smart compared to them, he'd play off-ball a lot more, rather than try to be the PG from the forward position.

You're splitting hairs over being 34 or 35?

This one was 3 weeks before Jordan's 35th birthday - at no point in Lebron's career is he capable of this - he almost never dunks off hop-steps and he's too wide-bodied to slide thru a no-spacing environment like in previous eras:

http://cdn.makeagif.com/media/8-08-2015/X6Ic5_.gif

In the 1998 season, MJ got 89 dunks as a 35 year old - that would rank as 2nd highest in Kobe's career... Paul George's career high is 71... Westbrook's is 59...

In MJ's prime, he got 150 dunks a year (http://www.insidehoops.com/forum/showthread.php?t=352399), and there was a good balance of one-footed and two-footed dunks.... and most of his posters were in tight, HALFCOURT sets.. MJ is the greatest halfcourt dunker of all time (for non-bigs).

Yep, so we should reward players who decide not to challenge the shot because they don't want to be on a poster.
