Veterans Day. God bless.

I notice many other nations are following our lead.

Cannot forget us and those that helped your nation.

So awkward to have people thank you for your service. Ask any combat vet, and most feel the same way. Most guys I know, like myself, don't go out for the free meals. When you compare what I did to what others in the past did, it's night and day.

Generally the ones who want you to know they are veterans are the ones who didn't do shit. I don't have a military haircut. I don't have any Marine Corps bumper stickers on my car or hoodies that say USMC on it. Other than my tattoos, some paperwork and one set of dress blues, I have nothing military from my time in the military.

But honestly, I don't put myself in the same conversation as the guys from Nam, Korea, or WW2. Those guys are true heroes.

Well American's started veterans day on the 11th in the 30's, I know australia has been celebrating remembrance day since 1918 on the 11th. I imagine Britain has celebrated it then, probably canada, NZ and other colonies too. So America was late to the party.

As Outbreak said, Commonwealth countries have been observing Remembrance Day since 1919. I'm not sure about other Commonwealth countries but in Britain, many people wear a red poppy as a symbol.

Not surprising when they were late to enter both wars
