How would you deal with teenage thieves in your neighborhood?

There are some teenagers in my neighborhood that have been going around stealing shit out of people's cars and vandalizing property. I have video surveillance of one of them checking my car door to see if it was unlocked. He had a hoodie on and his face was kind of covered up so I didn't get a clear shot of him. Not a week goes by and they do the same shit again, but they didn't make an attempt on my car the second time. The news came out and did a story on it and everything.

Some of my neighbors claim to be 100% sure of who the teens are, but the police can't do anything about it unless they catch them in the act or whatever. We had a HOA meeting and the police lieutenant, a city councilman, and some other people came to speak with us about the situation. But again, there's nothing the police can do about it. They just told us to keep our eyes open, blah blah blah.

What can you do in a situation like this.....when you know who the guys are? I really want to do something to these punks. I literally want to beat the shit out of them, but I think I'll get myself trouble with the law. Do you guys have any ideas? How can I get back at them and keep my hands clean as possible?

Reverse that bitch on them. Hoody up, beat them down. And if they somehow figure out it's you, bullshit them and tell them you have them on video, face clearly showing and you'll go to the cops with said tape.

Yeah, but it would suck if they decide to take a break though. And someone would have to be out there all night. The first time they hit at around 4am, the second time it was around 1am. Most of these people have 9 to 5 jobs.

Make sure you and all your neighbors put up a lot of motion sensor lights. See if people in the neighborhood work odd shifts and are willing to check around the neighborhood when they get home from work or before they leave for work.

If you see the kids out there you probably won't have time to call the cops and have them get there in time and if you physically grab the kids you may get in trouble for assault. Maybe chase them and throw a bucket of paint at them, if you think you know who they are anyway once the cops get there tell them to go check the suspected kids houses, if they are covered in paint case closed.

The lady that lives across the street from them tried this approach, but the mother got all defensive. Saying, "Her boys didn't do it" and "Don't be coming over here accusing them of shit." The next night her son's car got stolen right off the street and I don't think it was a coincidence.

If you go out and confront them or try to defend your property you will most certainly get into trouble. It's always the way.

The only thing I can suggest is to keep up surveillance and record what is happening to develop some evidence for when they eventually get caught. I know it sucks and it feels beta but if you go out and threaten them or even kick their teeth in you'll be the one slapped on the wrist and get a criminal record.

there is not really much you can do without opening yourself up to potentially serious consequences. your best option is probably just document and report every break-in and keep nagging the police, eventually they will do something.

You know who these assholes are, go beat some ass if they're messin with your shit. The parent(singular, because they probably don't have a father) of these kids sound like assholes too. If you're worried about getting into trouble then maybe you should make up some heinous accusations about them to tell the cops, get them arrested, maybe record them breaking into cars, then do some extra damage off camera to make it look worse, plant some evidence in their yard. Gotta get creative man, there's many ways to get rid of shitbags like these.

I ****ing hate teenagers.

I keep a .45 by my bedside and a Remington hidden by the front door. I have a guard dog at my gate, and sprinklers that emit tear gas on my lawn as security against any trespassers. Teenage thieves know not to come near my property, it's life or death for those demon *****.

I'd recommend having a setup like mine, it's lethal and full proof.
