Who would you rather have?

I've heard from non-credible, attention seeking trolls that kobe has GOAT skill but I'm taking Kidd all day every day.

Despite Kobes physical advantages Kidd is a more skilled and less selfish player.

Aside from height at their late 30s I'm not sure Bryant has any physical advantages. The injuries have made his loss of athleticism even greater than it would normally be for a player at the age of 37. And most guys are retired at 37. You go with Kidd because he accepted a greatly reduced role because he's accepted that he can't do the things he could in his prime. Bryant is probably as aware of athletic ability he's lost as anyone but his personality won't allow him to become a roleplayer.

Not even sure Bryant would be that good as a roleplayer anyway: he's not a particularly good long-range shooter and he can no longer defend at a high level.

As he is now Bryant's game hurts his team. When you shoot as much as he does a bad-shooting game kills the whole offense. He's shooting somewhere in the 30s and that's just terrible. Old Kidd also shot in the 30s but he was mainly taking threes and only took 5 shots per game.

Kidd could defend multiple positions until he retired. Also, he's not really significantly smaller than Kobe.

39 year old Kidd was playing D, coming down the court, making the right passes whenever he got the ball, and hitting the 3 enough that you had to guard him off the ball. He was the secret sauce for that Knicks team. Great chemistry with Chandler and Melo.

Jason Kidd had a really good overall impact at age 39.

Kobe is the worst player in the league if you look at impact... No defence, shooting 30 percent, locker room cancer. 25 mill pay cheque

Obviously Kobe, he still has a lot of skill, and on a good team, where you could afford to play him 25-30 minutes, he could still be a 18-20 ppg scorer with respectable percentages

kidd was never a liability. he never made a team worse off.

can't say the same for washed up 37yo kobe. he can still be useful if he only accepted a different role and stopped trying to play like he's still 22.
