Superteams (3 or more all-star caliber players) that failed:

2000-2002 Blazers (Pippen, Sheed, Stoudemire...DA and Sabonis weren't bad either)
2004 Lakers (Shaq, Kobe, Malone, Payton)
2011 and 2014 Heat (Lebron, Wade, Bosh)
2011-2012 Thunder (Durant, Westbrook, Harden)
2013 Lakers (Dwight, Kobe, Gasol, Nash)
2014 Nets (Deron Williams, Joe Johnson, KG/Pierce)

Superteams that succeeded:

2000s Spurs (Duncan, Ginobli, Parker)
2008 Celtics (Garnett, Pierce, R. Allen)
2013 Heat (Lebron, Wade, Bosh)

Let's keep this to 2000 and up. We can talk about 90's teams in another thread.

Would anyone consider the Mavs with Dirk, Nash, and Finley to be a super-team? Suns with Nash, Stoudemire, and Marion?

Still can't believe Kobe failed with that stacked Lakers squad.

No mention of the 2012 Heat? Ok, that season is as legit as any other, there's no point in omitting it.
The list in general looks pretty good, but I would say teams that have 3 or more ALL-STARS, or at least capable of being one. You have a flaw in your all-star caliber logic in that many legends on those teams were no longer all-star caliber players, i.e. 2014 Nets, 2004 Lakers, or that some players just weren't all stars yet (2011-12 Thunder, Harden). Take those teams (as well as the 2000 Blazers) off and add on the 2012 Heat, and you're good to go.

would 2004 Pistons be considered here?

Ben Wallace - Sheed - Rip - Chauncey - Prince?

then again you would have to throw them as failures in 05 and 06, having 4 all stars selected and losing in the playoffs when they were expected to win in 06
But that would mean that the '15 Hawks are a super team, which they were clearly not.

On paper, both Lakers squad were superteams but actuality not. Malone, and Payton were old and/or injured for the 2004 squad. Same with the 2013 squad with Nash and Dwight.

That's the point of the thread. They tried to form a superteam and failed. If they played like a superteam on the court, they wouldn't have failed.

Wouldn't call the "2000s Spurs" a super team. It was basically the Tim Duncan show until the later part of the decade, and even then Ginobili and Parker are AS's but not exactly super stars who would have lead teams to the Finals on their own (playoffs in the East maybe). "All Star caliber" player is pretty vague description. Was 2014 Deron Williams really an AS caliber player? Averaged 14 ppg and missed nearly 20 games

2009-2012 Celtics had 3-4 all stars each year iirc

Blazers were not a super team. They were stacked and deep, but not a team with 3 superstars. Neither were the Spurs.

Agenda too obvious.

Lakers Dwight (missed half of the season) , Nash ( missed more than half of the season) Gasol ( injured as well, D Antoni turned him into a 3 point shooter....) kobe ( torn ACL) before playoff starts

But SuperTeam doeeee

Still can't believe Kobe failed with that stacked Lakers squad.

Kobe single handedly got them to the playoffs and for all the talk from Dwight of wanting to be the focal point he couldn't win a single game with Gasol, Nash and I think even Artest all healthy.

Dwight played in 76 games you imbecile. Pretty sad I know more about your favorite team than you do. Then again, you probably aren't a Lakers fan anyway...

You can go fk urself. U make more Lakers thread than ur own team.

Dwight was fken injured all year even if he played 76 games , he was injured more than half of the season

But that's not what you claimed. You said he MISSED half the season. You already exposed yourself as an idiot, who has no idea what actually happened during that season. Howard came back from surgery 2 months early, yet had Kobe trashing him in the media throughout the season. Stop pretending to be a Lakers fan, Kobetard.
