I'm a lifelong Pacers fan but I follow the NBA in general as well. If you watched any of the Western Conference Finals you would of seen that Klay Thompson's defense is very overrated. He wasn't able to guard Harden at all, Steph Curry and even J J Reddick in the round before did a better job of guarding Harden than Klay Thompson. I was high on Klay Thompson last season but after his disappointing post season and slow start this year I am skeptical of his impact.

He is not able to sustain above average two way play simultaneously, this is a defining trait of a role player. Top tier players are able to play a high level on both sides of the ball at the same time. Klay has not shown us that because he is a role player level of player.

Having great defenders also helps. The Denver Nuggets in the 80s averaged 116 a game, but they were poor defensively.
