Kobe had too many to list...
Curry has warriorfan and some ex Kobe jockers.
LeBron has too many to list.
Jordan has 3ball and others.

So on and so forth.

Question is... are there any known examples of players that are or were mediocre players that had a known fan that was clearly mentally unhealthy and bordering on obsession?

I remember there were ppl slobbing on Lin and Parsons back in the day. With Lin it was LOFs and with Parsons it was suspect dudes attracted to him. Just today we had someone post in a thread about wanting to suck his D :facepalm I don't care if he was kidding, it's just a stupid thing to say.

At the moment? I wouldn't say there are any. As for the past, I can see Chandler Parsons obsessed people as mentioned above
