That is cool, but he is wrong.

If you're playing anywhere around the world, and you get to take peak Shaq or peak Kobe for a series to save the world, we all know who everyone is choosing. The better player; Shaq.

One guy has 5 rings, the other has 4 and wasn't even of value in his 4th title.

Kinda like how kobe was no value in his 1st, right?

shaq's numbers and impact were FAR superior in 2006 than kobe in 2000... so why even bring that up? Stupid.

what's Shaq's Career high? 61?

Kobe scored 62 in 3 quarters against the Dirk's Mavs.

Peak (00-04) Shaq >>> Peak (06-10) Kobe
90's Shaq (94-99) >>>>> early 00's Kobe (00-05)

93 Shaq > 99 Kobe
05-06 Shaq > 11-12 Kobe

Shaq had the 2nd best playoff Peak & Prime after Jordan.
Shaq is arguably the GOAT Finals performer.
Shaq is one of only 3 players that 3peated as the man (Jordan & Russell).

Kobe isn't even remotely close to him in terms of Prime, Peak or career.
Shaq is a fringe Top 3 All-Timer with Jordan & Kareem. Top 5 at worst.
Kobe is a fringe Top 10-11 All-Time with Jerry West.

>inb4 muh 5 rings.
Let Shaq play with Peak & Prime Jordan for 5-6 years and then a Peak Gasol for 2-3 more (who was better then 00 if not also 02 Kobe) and he'd have way more then 5 rings.

Shaq is a CENTER...it's funny you should use his efficiency numbers to prove a point when Kobe was the one setting him up on offense for the majority of his peak and he played his best when Kobe ran the triangle...not to mention he always played on great teams in Orlando (Penny, Grant), Miami (Wade, Zo, GP, Walker), Phoenix (Nash, Amare), Cleveland (Lebron) and Boston (Big 3 + prime Rondo) and he managed to win less rings than Kobe did...

Kobe without Shaq >>> Shaq without Kobe

and Shaq had all the help in the world.

It doesn't matter what they (players or media) say

Scottie Pippen Says LeBron Is Better Than Jordan (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LKBj4OK64kQ)

LeBron says Tim Duncan is most dominant player of last 15 years (http://www.cbssports.com/nba/eye-on-basketball/22362572/lebron-james-says-tim-duncan-is-the-most-dominant-player-of-last-15-years)

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Names Tim Duncan As His Favorite Current Player (http://www.lakersnation.com/kareem-abdul-jabbar-names-tim-duncan-as-his-favorite-current-player/2014/06/06/)

The thing is, GMs (talent evaluators) spoke loud and clear (1998 - 2010)
http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-e_c5WCRMcNw/VkVPvb9tfmI/AAAAAAAAE5M/MEWddAHYsNY/s1600/1.jpg

It's hard to find prime Kobe ...

Shaq is a CENTER...it's funny you should use his efficiency numbers to prove a point

What are you smoking my friend?
I don't see anything about efficiency in my post. Do you?
:facepalm

when Kobe was the one setting him up on offense for the majority of his peak

What?
Kobe wasn't even the guy bringing the ball up the court most of the time in their 2000 run and Shaq's offensive stats were fine in the many games that Kobe missed that year.

The triangle offense runs by itself and does not require a playmaker.
The 00-02 Laker offense was built primarily around Shaq and everyone played off of him.

not to mention he always played on great teams in Orlando (Penny, Grant), Miami (Wade, Zo, GP, Walker) and he managed to win less rings than Kobe did...

They faced different competition without eachother and Kobe had far better casts.
You think the 09 Lakers will beat the 95 Rockets or the 10 Lakers would beat the 96 Bulls? Don't make me laugh.

Kobe without Shaq >>> Shaq without Kobe

Shaq >>> Kobe

(Early 00's) Peak Shaq >>> (Late 00's) Peak Kobe
90's Shaq >>>>> early 00's Kobe

Plus Kobe in 00 & 02 was a factually & statistically worse performing 2nd option then 09 & 10 Gasol so why do those Rings not count when the two are compared?
Such idiotic logic.

Not to mention the West was stronger in the early 00's and the league changed its rules to hamper Shaq while the league changed its rules in the mid 00's to benefit Kobe...

and Shaq had all the help in the world.

Imagine if Shaq had what Kobe had.

99-02 Kobe had 99-02 Shaq
93-96 Shaq gets 90-93 Jordan

03 Kobe had 03 Shaq
97 Shaq gets 96 Jordan

04 Kobe had 04 Shaq
98 Shaq gets 98 Jordan

08-10 Kobe had Peak Gasol + Odom
00-02 Shaq gets an upgraded 2000 Kobe + Odom

How many Rings does Shaq win with those Kobe level casts over his Prime?
Much more then 5 thats for sure.

Yawn.

We all know Kobe is the 2nd best of all time and easily the best of this generation. Even the haters.

ImKobe
11-14-2015, 01:13 PM
And these guys (Wade, Dirk) are also top 5-10 players of Kobe's generation...he's not getting that kind of praise from 2nd stringers or NBA rookies, these are legends in their own right saying Kobe is the best of his time.. And their opinion is much more objective because they actually went up against Kobe and saw him dominate with their own eyes... No one else in NBA history could outscore a prime Dirk-led Mavs team that won 60+ games and had a 2-0 Finals lead the same year..

Lebron over Duncan for the 00-09 period?
In what universe does that make sense?

Just shows how crappy most casual fans are at judging the game.
The media and former players aren't usually much better either.

In the same sense that most casual fans vote MJ over Bill Russell as the GOAT...

even though Russell won 14 major championships in 15 years!!!

the sense that in Basketball , being able to dominate the game offensively and have the skillset to attack off of the dribble and create your own shot is much more Valuable then posting up and clogging the lane...

In other words...having a much more variety offensive skillset is far more Valuable...on top of being a dominant defensive palyer ( Like Kobe was 9X all defense 1rst team!..tied for 1rst)

No wonder Kobe's Lakers dominated TD's Spurs in the Post season....Kobe did Everything.

Recap: Bill Russell won nearly twice as many Championships then MJ....and was a much more dominant defensive player/rebounder......yet no one gives a damn....

because MJ had much more offensive game......Just like Lebron vs Duncan..Lebrons skillset is looked as as more valuable...same with Kobe

You never saw the games if you think Hakeem outclassed Shaq, their numbers were a toss up. Nick Anderson bricking four ft's late in game one completely changed that series. That Magics team also beat the MJ Bulls.

I dont care what numbers say......numbers say Nick Collison impacts the game at the same level ( RAPM lol) as Steph Curry...

I watched that series live...Hakeem made much more timely play's/ shots then Shaq....He schooled Shaq so many times snaq should have brought him an apple.

That Magic team was stacked to the gills.....but Hakeem was too much....Snaq couldn't stop him at all....

Yeah but the problem is you didn't watch the series either.
The difference in that series was the play of the roleplayers.

Shaq outplayed Hakeem heartily over the first 3 games and infact both G1 & G3 came down to the wire.
In both games it was a roleplayer who saved Hakeem (Kenny and Horry).

So please.
We have the stats and Shaq was far more effective VS Hakeem 1v1 then he was against him.

Shaq even averaged more APG despite his roleplayers shooting so poorly.
You can twist things for your agenda all you like but the numbers and the eye-test don't lie. Hakeem didn't school shit.
Everyone who has done a real analysis of the series has come to the same conclusion.
