View Full Version : Clippers have Muslim Man in turban perform National Anthem
Just a side story on this morning's Clippers game at Staples. In the wake of the Paris terrorist attacks by ISIS, the Clippers observed a moment of silence pre-game followed by the playing of The French National Anthem.
Following the moment of silence, our national anthem was played by an Arabic violinist (male) in a black turban. Didn't catch the name, based on the turban I'm safely presuming he is Muslim. Also don't know his native nationality or if it was shared....
I'm surprised there isn't any buzz whatsoever circulating about this on the internet today. What do you think? Positive message? Statement of unity? Trying too hard to be culturally sensitive? I'm just curious what the range of opinions were on this today from anyone who caught it.

Turban = Sikh = Not muslim
I think it's a non-issue and shouldn't need to be discussed.

That guy is pretty much the best violinist in L.A. Props to the clips for hiring such a high profile violinist.

People need to learn that just because someone is Muslim, it doesn't mean they support terrorism.
Kareem is a muslim... would it be a shame for him to perform the national anthem?

Probably. Heard him speak many times. Doubt he can sing with that voice.

Sounds like you know about this guy, what's his name?

Probably for the best. This guy has nothing to do with the attacks.

The only ones who are fine with using sentences "muslim/islam" and "ISIS" together is only ISIS and Islamophobs/stupid people/people who know nothing about Islam (no offense), they/you are only doing them a favor. These psychos have killed far more actual muslims (middle-eastern) than anything else (the terror they deliver in middle-east doesnt make your news or?) as they oppose/are at war with them... amongst the victims in Paris there were also many casual muslims they shot down, i have a sister in Paris, was there just last month, could have been me or her amongst one of those people in the concert hall, been there many times... and im muslim... you really think they care?
