Yeah but it just surprises me looking at that gif that these two weigh the same. Holm towers over her, and while Rousey is a lil bit thicker, shes not LEBRON thick. I would have guessed the tall chick to be at least 10 lbs heavier, but I guess not. She still looks like shes got a more masculine build than Rousey, whose hips and arms look much more soft like an average girl.

The all Jewish high school team probably qualifies as a bad high school boys team (sorry to my Jew brethren but we aren't natural athletes). Even so if they had anyone semi-skilled in the post who was over 6'6", that would be enough to dominate the paint vs an elite WNBA front court, on both ends of the floor.

The best women athletes simply cannot compete with men in terms of strength, explosiveness or quickness. It is just biology.

On top of that, there is a myth that WNBA players are highly skilled and have strong fundamentals. If any of you actually watched a WNBA game you'd see this is bullshit. The guards have sloppy handles, the post players regularly miss open layups, they all have horrible footwork and I always see atleast 2 airballed wide-open threes every time I watch for more than 15 minutes. They also seem to have poor understanding of team defensive principles. I understand that athletically they can't compete but I don't understand what excuse they have for having such shitty level of skill and fundamentals too.



Similar to how I don't understand how Rousey can have been fighting UFC for so long, been training for so long, and still have standup technique that is below an average amateur boxer. She has some of the best coaching in the world and none of them can teach her to throw a punch correctly?

She was the best at her division and she was dominating. Not hype in that sense.

But hyped as f*** when they started saying nonsense like she could beat Mayweather and some UFC male fighters, or like she was the greatest fighter of all time, and that she could be a boxing champion.

And it was not even the Brazil under 15 national team, it was just Fluminense's team (a big team in the first division, but not the freaking national team). it ended up 4 x 1 to the boys*.

The disguised elbow Holm caught Ronda with was sick, as was her fight in general. Props to the champ. She looks atleast a level above where Rousey's currently at. I honestly don't see how Rousey can ever catch up.

You're not wrong, she actually fits the description with her dominant boxing career and now her dominant mma career.

That's why boxers get paid in millions, and UFC fighters get paid in thousands.

A lot of that has to do with market structure as well.

UFC as an organization has done extremely well, but I think it is only time before fighters branch off by themselves, and take a more boxing style approach to how the fight game works.

The fighters for now are content with their paychecks, but eventually they will want in the millions if the sport ticks over enough and gets that critical mass amount where it is an even more prominent sport than it is now. When that happens there is less room for the middle man like the UFC in this case, and they will lose out on profits.

for pretty much most of the fight, Holly was just using Ronda's forward momentum/lunging style against her. Tagged her with the left when Ronda came in, moved to the side, rinse and repeat
Rousey's boxing was so bad, it's hard to imagine she has been as successful as she has been so far, even against other women who didn't really know what they were doing either. She fought like a person who had just watched a handful of boxing events but had never been hit in the face. It felt like the fight was over the first time she got tagged, which was pretty much right away. Her sloppiness then went from just really bad to comical. Lunging and telegraphing don't adequately explain what she was doing in there. She is an absolute novice. Even when she got Holly to the ground for a split second, she looked sloppy and out of control.

considering how many people in the sport have said she is arrogant wouldn't be surprised if she wanted to go to fight her this way so she'd get more glory instead of going the safe smart route and playing to her own strengths.
