I think he is a little too tanned
I've actually thought this myself...I think that as a post player the extra weight provides a better "anchor" in the paint, makes you more of an immovable object down there. It's a rare thing because most NBA players are so lean and have a high center of gravity, so as a post player, it's a definite advantage to be heavy. Obviously you gain some speed and quickness with the weight loss but I think that for a post player, if you can keep the girth and still have a high level of conditioning (which is difficult to do but possible) the extra weight helps.
I would think of it this way: with the extra weight Kevin love had a physical advantage that he could go to against over 90% of his opponents. By losing the weight he lost that advantage to a great degree. He gained some quickness but I'd say he is still less quick than most of his opponents. So he basically discarded his greatest advantage and traded it to be mediocre at everything.

Great question, I think the answer as far as his peak is considered probably yes.
If he had only lost 10-20 lbs I think the loss would have helped but he looks to have lost at least 40 or more lbs and with that almost definitely lost some strength as well.
