Porzingis aggressive early, shook Davis off for the turnaround couldn't finish.

Pelicans by 5.

Why isn't Derrick Williams playing with the 2nd unit? Knicks need scoring badly from this unit.

I don't get why he isn't. He was on fire in the first few games. His defense is abysmal though.

There was a stint where the Knicks had an abysmal offensive bench lineup out there and they couldn't do shit. Why not throw DWill in a lineup like that where he can be the go-to guy. this nigguh fish man

The team is entirely different. They're very competitive. Every single player on the team is a competitor and hustles. They'll be the dark horse for the East

Jesus...if New Orleans doesn't put a team around AD soon they're gonna flat out waste an all time great's career the same way Minnesota did with KG. You have the best young player in basketball and you surround him with complete trash? Hopefully they can bottom out and draft Ben Simmons or something.

The Nets are (1-9)
Philly is (0-10)

Otherwise than that, the East got stronger.

Seraphin has a shit load of potential. On the court he reminds me of David West. In fact, this entire Knicks team reminds me of the young Pacer team a few years ago. Melo being Paul George

He's young. 4 years is enough to get his game maxed out overall. I see him pulling away and leaving just like Westbrook or Durant & how LeBron did.

In the meanwhile he'll get his stats up

Hopefully they can bottom out and draft Ben Simmons or something. They are still dealing with injuries to Tyrke and Q-Pon (2nd and 3rd best players on team last year). Plus, Jrue's minutes are restricted and Anderson is declining. They will get better when they are healthy.

But this is what I've complained about so much in regards to this team. They rushed to get too good, too fast because of a stubborn owner and now they have to rely completely on AD to win any playoff series.

It's a team that can realistically only get better with getting value guys for cheap in FA or fleecing in a trade (same way ATL got Korver, Carroll, and Millsap). This current team is maxed out as first-round fodder. Maybe a 2nd round exit if AD has an ATG type series or if they have some good luck.

Well AD already re-signed so he's not going anywhere unless he begs for a trade..

And this is even a worse scenario than you and I imagined these last few years when we've been repeatedly trying to explain to people how idiotic this whole process was.

I watch a lot of Pelicans games because I'm often in their coverage area and I think AD is amazing...so I hope they turn this around and make the playoffs or this is going to be a nightmare.

If this continues like 2 weeks longer...they really should think about shutting the season down...because if they end up turning it around and missing the playoffs...while not getting a great pick.

Ugh...what a ****ing waste.

The Jrue Holiday trade was just terrible. I know he came off a good season, but they really thought ****ing Jrue Holiday (who at his best, was maybe the 15th best PG in league) was putting them over the top? Could have had Noel or Giannis.

Ugh...what a ****ing waste.I never expected them to have this bad of a start, but maybe I was expecting Norris Cole to play more or something instead of Ish Smith or Toney Douglas. I even overestimated this team and I thought 50 wins was their absolute max ceiling this year.

I remember you had a hypothetical in a thread a long time back with an over/under for # of playoff series won at 1.5 for a 3-year window right? I remember saying I'd take the under on that.

I agree- if they win only like 2 games in next 2 weeks they need to consider trying get a guy like Simmons, Ingram, etc. Ship out Anderson b/c he's regressed a ton, might net them a pick or player (Morris for Anderson?), and likely not worth keeping. Maybe they can convince somebody to trade for Gordon.

I'm pretty sure that the most cap space they can have next summer is just under $20M. That can let them establish some depth, perhaps, but they'd still need to replace Anderson and Gordon in that scenario.

They need to look at some RFAs like Fournier, Tyler Johnson, and Galloway who maybe could be had. Barnes might be possible but I would be surprised if GSW doesn't match.

Yea...that is how franchises need to learn to think. They need to be able to say..."okay...we get these guys...what is the best case scenario over the next 3 years?"

And that was clearly 1 or 2 playoff series wins...although honestly that might be high considering they missed the playoffs, got swept, and now might miss the playoffs yet again.

So the over / under at 1 or 1.5 (can't remember what I set it at) was probably too high to begin with.

I really don't know what or how they can pull something off if this continues. They aren't good enough to win like 65% of their games as a team...and if this continues 2 to 3 more weeks...that is what they'll have to do in order to make the playoffs.

The problem is they really have no assets anyone wants. Maybe someone gives you back something for Jrue...same thing for Evans. Asik is probably impossible to move.

And that was my main issue back when all this started. We all knew Gordon and Anderson, especially, wouldn't be part of the team going forward. So what is the point in rushing if you aren't even building a team that can grow together going forward?

Personally, unless something changes quickly, I'd fire sale Jrue and Evans and Anderson and tank the season and just rebuild in the draft and through free agency.

Maybe a healthy Tyreke could entice them or somebody else. I'd consider sending Jrue to Knicks for Calderon + Galloway, if they'd even entertain that (likely not considering Galloway is better).

Tanking this year makes a ton of sense long-term because the 2017 FA class could be insane. Westbrook, Curry, and Ibaka re all UFAs then and I expect Durant to do 1+1 this summer, making him available in 2017 too.

Clearing the cap as much as possible for this summer would at least allow them the chance to overpay some decent young RFAs that still can get better.

right...i mean...jrue and evans expire next year anyway...so again, not like you are building with them for sure long term.

i'm sure some contender would give up a 2nd rounder for Anderson.

Just clear it all off (except for Asik...they are stuck with him...which isn't terrible if he's playing)

It will suck...and it will be painful, because of what they could have had, but if they can't make the playoffs this year...they have to clean house and start over.

That means no playoffs for AD for 4 years. Needs to GTFO of there as soon as he can. Loser franchise

So many inept FOs at the moment, the quality of the league is looking pretty shit lately..

Oh no...I think the Pels could make the playoffs next year even if they clean house this year. They'll be able to get quality free agents and build the kind of team that makes sense.

It doesn't have to be those exact guys per se, but 2 cheap young guys and a decent guy in his prime on a below average contract make a lot of sense for this team.

Tank to see if you can pair a stud like Simmons or Ingram with AD and this team could be right back in business if they fill out the rest of the bench properly. This year's FA class doesn't have many stars who will be on the move but you can get decent young guys if you overpay some.

Like you said- not like you plan on keeping Tyreke or Jrue long-term anyway. Maybe they should offer Gordon + this year's first for Cousins or something since the FO likes to dump picks.

Yep...which is why this could be such a disaster scenario. Still plenty of time, but the margin for error is now reduced dramatically.

If they suck for another 2 weeks it's going to be almost impossible to make the playoffs.

So it's still too early to panic, but if they end up winning like 38 games and miss the playoffs...ugh...what a disaster.

And yeah, we're discussing blowing up the supporting cast and tanking. Sit AD and Q-Pon- no need to rush anybody back from injuries if you commit to a tank job.

You won't have to sit AD. He will get injured in some form or fashion and probably miss 15-20 games anyway. It has been his MO since he came into the league....

Cole's been hurt (high ankle sprain) and don't think he's even suited up for a game yet this season.
