Honestly the Pelicans season could be close to done. 1-9 the team has had their season killed by injuries. There is still a chance they can resurrect the season but that window will close soon if the don't start winning games.
At what point do they hit the tank button? Imagine if they got the number one pick and got Simmons.
Pairing Simmons and Davis in the front court could be one of the best combinations in NBA history. I'm sure with that talent they would be an attractive place for free agents to sign as well..
Imagine that frontcourt sheesh..

imagine if they get Skal Labissiere. Now that'd be a front court. They'd probably ask Anthony Davis to gain a few lbs and move to center.

Jrue Holiday / Norris Cole / Ish Smith
Eric Gordon / Quincy Pondexter
Tyreke Evans / Dante Cunningham
Skal Labissiere / Ryan Anderson
Anthony Davis / Omer Asik / Alexis Ajinca

now that's a good team.

Isn't he Australian? da fucc do they know about ball down there? He's probably a failed cricket player
He's been playing high school ball in florida since 2013, his Dad is american and played Div 1 college ball (I forget who for?) and then played professionally here in Australia for a long time. Don't know if he played cricket but he played AFL and like Bogut and Dellavadova I imagine it'll give him some toughness as well. He's also spent time at the AIS learning from professionals, I've read NBA\College execs talking about how the Australians who come through there are more mature and grounded than the U.S prospects. Not hard to see why when they are taught public speaking and growing up in an environment that doesn't just give them a pass in life because they play basketball, AFL players get that here but basketballers don't.

His whole family are in basketball too, has a brother who coaches a college team, uncle who is an assistant at LSU and his sister was a rower or something.

Simmons needs to land on the Lakers. It would be like if Magic and Bird played for the same team. And if Kobe returns, Magic, Bird, and (60 year old) MJ on the same team.

I'd imagine the Pelicans would still find a way to field a losing team:oldlol:

:biggums:

Can AD catch a rebound, PG it up the court, and then finish on a fastbreak or playmake to an assist on a CONSISTENT basis?

Yeah, a little bit... he's a little bit stiff with that but he can pull it off. But I see what you are getting at.

No, and for all you know, neither can Simmons at the NBA level.

Ok, I'm watching him now, if he gained weight he can evolve into an Anthony Davis-type. Actually, the way they are using him in LSU seems similar to Davis.

But yeah, Simmons looks like he can be a factor as a 6-10 Pippen-type. Odom-esque. Still, the Pelicans would need a good guard to feed these bigs. He is not a point-forward as of yet... maybe a Paul George -type.
