a sample list of QB's who played and were held at a HIGH level of a grusome contact sport, who LED their team into the playoffs
Mark Brunell
Doug Flutie
Vinny Testaverde
Warren Moon
Brett Favre
Yesterday we have from a 37yo anonymous NBA player after taking two prior games off:
"I’m barely standing up. My back & my legs, it’s killing me.” He added, "I'm not looking forward to walking to the car. Seriously."
Something to sleep on: Favre having BOUNTIES on his head in his final years, going out their every game and not whining a bit. While some other NBA player(s) have to take days off, miss games, complain of physical torture of a mild contact sport - get a pass?
Thoughts ish?

NBA players play 82 games.
The amount of time of action in football is really short.

More intense and constant impact on your joints in basketball. You know what sport really kills your joints? Tennis. I've played basketball my entire life, and all of chronic injuries / joint pain have come from Tennis; the sport is just brutal on your body for some reason.

Literally only one of those QB's played in the postseason after 40, for two games, and his final throw that season resulted in this

These guys play or played at a high, All Star kind of level in their late 30's (37 years old or older):
Kareem
Mailman
Stockton
Dirk
Duncan
MJ
Nique (people sleep on Nique's SAS days. For a lot of that season, he was averaging 20 points and 7 boards a game)
And u have a lot guys who retired at 35 or 36 playing at a high level. BUT they likely had another year or two of AT LEAST All Star caliber shit.

Interesting that his body started breaking down once the league starts HGH testing. Hmm...

weekly games.
NBA is more physical (running....being punched is actually less taxing on an old body than a sprint) today than ever.
QB's are no longer allowed to be hit in the NFL....
Oh and there have been great nba players in their 40's. Thre haven't been nfl players.

More game in an NBA season, different kind of athleticism needed, longer games in terms of actual time played, most km's covered on average by players, every player needs to be able to run decently whereas in the nfl you can have players who are just there to throw/kick or whatever.

Have you watched Peyton Manning this season?

quarterbacks for the most part move around less than a professional bowler and are protected by the referees so that anyone who breathes on them is ejected
i'm surprised there arent QBs in their late 50s playing at a high level

Sure kobe wasn't born to play a long career, he's got genetic issues to be elite. But realy why you gotta dog Kobe? He works hard to be his best.

Couldn't agree more OP. :applause:
Kobe is LITERALLY being paid 25 million this season to be a part time player. Why did Favre get shit on for skipping training camp during his final years while Kobe gets pass after pass for skipping practice AND games?! :facepalm

The same reason soccer players can't either, knees are not made for constant running all day for decades. We're built for walking with short bursts of speed. 'Football' only has 10 minutes of actual game time so lot less stress.

Because they're two very different sports. All the Quarterbacks you listed are gunslingers.

another reason why fed is goat, has such a smooth game that doesn't rely on being a juiced doped up running machine. How ****ed is the tennis season tho phorreal, these guys bust their asses legit year round with a tiny break before the Australian hardcourt season yet even the top guys make noway near as much as the top NBA players per year not taking into account endorsements.

This. An average professional football game lasts 3 hours and 12 min but the actual total playing time is 11 minutes. Cut that in half depending on if you play OFF or DEF and the average player spends 5.5 minutes of actually playing and only in 16 regular season games.

same reason running backs cant play into their 40s. being a QB is alot less physically demanding. its a step up from being a pitcher.

The majority of players rely massively on athleticism to be good in the NBA, only a select few are skillful enough to maintain a high level of play in their late 30s when that drops off.
My man Kobe lack of skill and basketball IQ has been badly exposed :(

Especially with how they protect quarterbacks today. You can't sneeze on a QB without a 15 yard penalty.
