The answer to this question has to be Walt Frazier, right? I'll also nominate Tim Duncan, Oscar Robertson, Dave Cowens and Bill Russell.

i see that "coolest" here means total robotic lack of any human emotion.
that's cool when you're 14. then it stops being cool.

Cool is on the way to being ice cold. Ice cold means no emotions.

Then they had a cozy photo shoot for Slam magazine where they hyped each other up. Duncan would be a real wimp if this was said and he was ok with it. KG outplayed Duncan in both of the last two games in both series but the mime was careful to avoid saying Duncan crushed KG afterward.

And the guy who did the mime shouldn't be using the NBA Logo like that.

So true. Phil Chineir once clean pushed Frazier in the face and Frazier hardly acknowledge it. The refs didn't see it. The Bullets were winning too. Frazier totally humiliated Phil the rest of the game, to the point where Phil was looking to the refs like they should stop the contest. I think Walt hit his next 12 shots to blow the game out and he never left Walt - silky - cool - smooth - pimp mode either. The Knicks team, which still has the reputation of being the smartest team ever, just kept giving it to Clyde and isolating him and it had the effect like they were under the high beams in a play. He posted Phil deep and had him jumping in all types of different directions like he was puppet.

Frazier never seemed to look at Phil. But you seen the vindictive side of Clyde. It was a nonviolent slaughter. The kind where the victim goes home and cries and the watchers say to themselves, "still waters run deep."

I think Doc J was real cool on the court, but Frazier was the coolest.

Love Jimmy Butler's business-only demeanor, and think what Pop said about Kawhi applies to Jimmy most of the time too.

Never happened. Its one of the fans (haters?) created myths.

If you track down the source, its a single, anonymous source. Nobody ever confirmed it, nobody heard it on the court in that game, no video exists. It was a Playoffs game, and yet - nothing.

Frazier was in the era when cool was a style sought after and he's still being called cool decades later. You have absolutely no clue at all what we are talking about. You said, a few post back, "Okay, basically, everyone who was or is great." WHY ARE YOU always jumping in something that you have the least bit of knowledge about. If I made sense to you I would have to be clueless.

Eventually, it is just that... anyone gonna tell me MJ or Magic didn't have a cool demeanor?

Im sure folks feel Griffin, or Paul deserve a shout.. Harden often looks the same as Butler, perhaps even disinterested (which is not good obv.)... Moses, Hakeem after religion, etc. they all could be mentioned.

Not from the US???

Those are not great examples but it could be interpreted that way. I would define it as a smooth style instead of demeanor. A guy who doesn't get rattled and exudes calmness even in crazy situations (this is why I told the Clyde story - he beat Phil Cheniers butt after getting punched in the face and you didn't even see it - but you felt it. Clyde even took the punch cool). KG isn't cool on the court but is in interviews. KG and Magic wear their emotions on their sleeve so to speak which is almost opposite of cool. A cool guy is style over emotion, easy movements over overt ones and with grace as a necessary spice to the style.

If it happened in a playoff game it was at latest 2001??? Pop was a military man and KG wasn't retaliated on. I would hope somebody on the Spurs (Malik Rose) would take the shot at Garnett. Duncan is not a wimp, nor is Pop nor the team.

According to Popovich, MJ is the standard for two-way play:

"He (Kawhi) has the ability to do what Michael Jordan did at both ends, and I don’t mean he’s Michael Jordan,” Popovich said. “But you think about the best players in the league, they’re not two-way players. He wants to do that.”

So MJ deserves props for being the goat in many areas - obviously, MJ wouldn't BE the goat if he wasn't goat at many things.
