View Full Version : Kobe is the epitome of a player 'carrying a team'

We have seen this multiple times in his storied career. It all started with whipping Shaq into a winner. Then taking a team full of scrubs to the playoffs. After that, three straight finals and two chips with Gasol (who never tasted a playoff win before) and co. Then carrying a team full of injured has-beens to the playoffs, only to tear his own Achilles in the process. Now the Lakers can't even book a win without him. This man is the definition of carrying a team on his shoulders, and what's truly amazing is he did this throughout 20 seasons.

too bad this pic wasn't meant to be a metaphor for who was really carrying the Lake squad, instead it was more a big bro, little bro affection on display. god knows Shaq was one heavy, out of shape mf'ker. no way Kobe could lift him up like that.

I wonder why Shaq carried Kobe around like that.
Maybe he wanted to make sure that Kobe was ready to do all the heavy lifting against San Antonio.

I'm not sure. The Finals would be good evidence of it though

Right. It makes sense that Kobe would let Shaq abuse the lesser teams after Kobe carried them past the good ones.

That's your best excuse as to why Kobe is a horrible Finals performer.
You couldn't think of anything better?

2002
2009
Not horrible
2010
2001
Not horrible outside one game
2000
Horrible but for a reason (and still had a classic game that won the series)
2004
2008
Horrible
That's called being honest. Now go and troll that kiddo.

Shaq beat MJ in the playoffs when Kobe was a child. How did he "whip Shaq into a winner?"
Kobe is carrying the Lakers like the average Lakers fan carries garbage bags out to the McDonald's dumpster

Classic game, probably.
Good game, I dunno.
Kobe in that game only scored 20pts on 43%TS before the OT period.
So yes he played very well in the OT but if he hadn't kinda sucked during regulation they wouldn't have even needed one.
Food for thought. :pimp:

Kobe Bryant had 15 points on 3-of-15 shooting. He missed his first seven shots before hitting a layup with 10:11 left in the third quarter to trim Dallas' lead to 56-49 after Dallas led by 16 points. The NBA's third all-time leading scorer is three games into his 20th season with the Lakers.
"I just can't make a shot," said Bryant, who is 16 for 51 from the field overall. "I'm getting the shots I want. I'm just not making them.
"D'Angelo's putting me in the right spots and stuff like that. I've got to capitalize for him, that's all If I could make a damn shot, that would help. I suck right now."
