Cavs up 2-1 and looking to go up 3-1 until Kerr makes the definitive change with Iggy late in game 4 and starting him there on out. result is GSW never looked back after that and the Cavs had no answer, and ultimately the GSW are champs.

Iggy was the difference maker in this series and ended the slow-paced Cavs initiative that helped them snatch two games...but do keep on believing Steph was the "reason" the Warriors won.

Current Curry? As in the level of his play just these 12 games?

He's certainly on that level...there aren't more than a handful of players in NBA history that have played the game at a higher level than Curry has these last 12 games....

But this is obviously somewhat of a hot streak that many great players have.

Wade in 09 had a stretch of games in which he was as good or better...and many others have.

So...assuming this is somewhat of a "hot streak"...then no, but if he were to keep this up all season? It would be one of the single greatest seasons ever and what put him up there with just about everyone that I've ever seen outside of maybe MJ and Kareem...

It's, quite frankly, absurd how good he's playing right now...if this isn't a "hot streak"....holy shit

And if you put him above 2009/2010 Lebron or 2012 Lebron, you are also putting him above 2003 Duncan and others.

I don't think it's merely a hot streak. Most of the shots he's hitting are the norm for him, and I've even seen him miss some shots he normally makes. Like last night, he missed 3 or 4 open shots.

He's getting a few more minutes per game and is being a little more aggressive.

The scary thing is I don't think GS as a team are playing as well as they could...yet they're still 12-0.

You're telling me that this is a top 5 12-game stretch?

I'm really not sure there are more than 5 guys or so that have "for sure" played the game at a higher level than this. By handful I wasn't capping it certainly at 5, but somewhere in that 5 to 7 range...maybe more...I honestly don't know...this stretch has been that good. It's not just about the 12 game stretch of stats...it's his impact. It's pretty damn hard to impact the game much more than this. Other guys have done it like MJ and Kareem, but it's rare.

Scoring this many points on 70% TS while having elite off ball impact is just absurd.

So there might be 15 guys in that 2nd level that Curry is in...but for sure playing better than Curry is right now?

Ugh...I don't know...not that many

Merely implies that it's a fluke. I didn't say merely...I said somewhat.

We'll see...I'm not expecting a huge drop off, but you'd think the 70% TS would drop down and normalize a bit at this volume.

I've seen similar stretches even recently by guys like Lebron Kobe, and Durant. Then you throw in Shaq, MJ, KAJ, etc. and the list gets long.

I will say this, however. I've never seen a guy be this good while being this under control and team oriented. What Curry is doing is never forced. Heck it's within the system. This isn't a give it to Curry and get out of his way. This is a let's run the offense with the best PG in the game leading the attack.

Yea...similar stretches...that is exactly what I said and I'm saying...many players have had similar stretches.

What I was talking about is stretches in which you'd say someone was on a different level.

And there just haven't been many players in history that played the game at a higher level than Curry is currently playing it at.

There have, however, been many guys that have had stretches around this level...

Now, regular season is one thing...doing it in the playoffs...that is another. So it depends on how you are grading this stuff because some of the players we are talking about how stretches of 10 plus games in the playoffs on par with what Curry is currently doing...and I hold this in higher esteem.

But just in a vacuum? This is historic stuff...

Indeed

Lebron's time of possession in the Finals was an enormous 12.0 minutes - that's 50% higher than the regular season leader John Wall's 8.3 minutes and 60% higher than Curry's 7 minutes.

No team can win with 1 player's time of possession that high, which proves Lebron's style was designed to stat-pad, not win.

And defense - Curry is a 1-way player, whereas Popovich said Jordan is the standard for 2-way play:

"(Kawhi) has the ability to do what a Michael Jordan did at both ends, and I don’t mean he’s Michael Jordan,” Popovich said. “But you think about the best players in the league, they’re not two-way players. He wants to do that.”
