I dont think this D'Angelo + Clarkson combo will work. I think once Lakers lock Clarkson into his new contract, he'll be a great trade bait for the Lakers to do something, possibly get a good 3 and D guy. Clarkson > Russel right now, but I have a hard time seeing these two co exist in the long run and I think Russell will end up being a better player in a few years, well at least better in the sense that his type of ball will lead to more wins.
