View Full Version : as bad as russell is. hes just as shitty as the other rookies besides K.A. towns.

Porzingis = 12/8/0 average on 40% fg's, 26% threes, big freakin deal
okafor = 19/7/1 average on 47% fg's, 3 turnovers per game, no defense, no rebounding, empty stats
mudiay = 12/4/6 average on 31% fg's, 27% threes, 64% ft's, 5 turnovers per game
russell = 10/4/3 average on 40% fg's, 31% threes
given the same volume of shots and time with the ball.. russell would be just as productive as mudiay but with better percentages. just as ineffectively overrated as okafor and just as absurdly hyped as porzingis
yeah russell sucks. but so does everyone else the lakers didnt draft that they could have

This is true. Rookies are always inconsistent, this is no big news.

The eye test tells me that Porz-dingus has been a combination of Dirk and The Dream.
Okafor has been fantastic offensively.

i think the other guys just have allot less pressure on them
the 76ers are trying to lose. and nobody watches them
mudiay wasnt expected to be the next carrier of a franchise
porzingis made knicks fans boo and cry when he was drafted
litterally anything positive out of these guys is looked at as a miracle for their teams
while russell had expectations of averaging 12/10/5 with high% threes right off the bat on the leagues top franchise of all time taking over for Kobe Bryant as the face of the LA Lakers

And yet when you watch someone like Porzingis play, it's obvious he has sky high potential offensively AND defensively. He's huge, he's athletic, he has great feet/hands/length, and already has a beautiful jumper at 20.
When you watch Russell play, you see an unathletic guard that looks like he just floats around the court and takes an occasional 3 or mid-range jumper off a pick-and-roll. And maybe a nice-looking pass here or there.
Yeah, the difference is staggering.

Yet he has still led the Nuggets to 6 wins and 5 losses
5 of those wins are against playoffs teams from last year.. And the other W came against none other than the Lakers

Same thing as Winslow
What a strange practice. Who the hell wants to stay an extra year of school :facepalm

What kind of an idiot bases rookie evaluations only on stats? "no defence" okafor's averaging 1.8 blocks a game too, he isn't a great defender yet but the instincts are there as a help defender for rim protection. He ain't a liability

KP6:
13/9/1/1/1 in 25 minutes per game
D'Angelo Russell:
10/4/3/1 in 25 minutes per game
Statistically, they are not too far off. However, anyone with a brain can tell that Zingis Khan is the far more developed player at this point with a far higher ceiling. Zingis wil impact the game on a level that chuckers and busts such as kobe & russell can never dream of.

Highlights and Box scores won't tell you anything about how the rookies are playing. Porzingis and Okafor are smart players. KAT is great on Defense and Active. Mudiay is super athletic, fearless, good at controlling the pace so far. Russell is flat out uncomfortable still

Stopped reading after this cause you know shit all, uh, yeah Mudiay is expected to carry the Nuggets franchise. Pretty much when they drafted him, it is well known to us Nuggets fans that he is the future of our team.
Not expected to lead right away of course, the Nuggets are doing it right getting their young guys max minutes now to grow together.
