Meh. It's easy to have that Bird/Jordan mentality when you're not playing against guys you grew up with, attended recruitment camps with, have known on Facebook all your adult life.

It's not like the guys today are psychologically different than previous eras. They just came up in a completely different set of circumstances. That's all.

Personally it doesn't really matter much to me whether a guy hates the other teams guts. The good players are still playing as hard as they can and trying to win. It's still good basketball.

If I'm a coach I want a player who hates the guy wearing the other colors. I know there have been some great "laid back" nice guy players like Duncan, but as a general rule you're gonna fight someone you hate a lot harder and refuse to surrender than you will against someone you are buddy buddy with. Give me a hater any day.
