Entering a New Post

When I type, and I'm ready to submit a new post, I find it's quickest to use my left ring finger to tap the "TAB" key TWICE, then hitting ENTER with my right pinky. That's just me. Try it.


ABOUT AVATARS (pictures next to your username in each post you make)

If you want an avatar, search the internet and find a picture to use.

GETTING YOUR AVATAR UP AND RUNNING:

1) Search the web, find a picture (pictures get shrunk smaller, so don't use a giant one), and copy the DIRECT LINK to that image
2) On this forum, click "USER CP" on the upper left
3) Select "EDIT AVATAR" and click "CUSTOM AVATAR"
4) Paste the DIRECT URL to the picture you want to use on another website



About User Levels

There are a TON of user levels. You'll see :) But please remember, QUALITY OF POSTS matters the most. Quantity doesn't. So as you move up the ladder, from "scrub at the park" on up, please always HELP THE FORUM with GOOD DISCUSSION.

Then come here, get the name, click "USER CP" and change the password to something else, and change all the info, and the name is yours.

Yes, the beloved pimp-hat kind of icons will be here, as soon as I figure out how to do it. It should just take a day or two.

Moderation - Keep the place as good as it can be.

Sigs - They are fun.

Counting post count instead of total(if it's possible)

Not such a white colour scheme.

The posts can get moved but the actual users can't, and I worry that moving the posts would somehow mess things up somehow. Like it might mean that all those usernames would get locked, or something.

Also, one day's worth of posts fills 2-4 pages, so I don't thing we have to worry about bringing old posts over here. We'll get 2000 new ones every day

I got used to it after 15 posts

The orange and blue may be changed. If someone finds a good color scheme and gives me the HTML color codes for it (post it in the sticky post at the top of this forum, I might not see it in here) then we'll switch

Anyway, getting used to this new forum will take you literally about 15 minutes. Or a day at the most

I just figured out that it's easiest to hit the "TAB" button with your left pinky or left ring finger twice to jump to "submit reply" and then hitting enter

Hey mate, go to USER CP, then go down to EDIT OPTIONS, scroll down till you see 'Number of posts shown per page' and then adjust it accordingly.

I am sure you are aware you can import threads from ezboard with a php script?

Yeah, but I didn't want to risk having problems becasue people can't edit those threads, and it's possible it screws up the usage of people's names or whatever.

And the NBA forum really doesn't need to be brought over, because in ONE DAY we can fill up 2-4 pages of new discussions.

The othrea forums, if people put a lot of time into any of them, I will probably copy what they wrote and paste them into the various other forums here, crediting them of course

I'd rather start clean than risk php problems because of an ezboard glitch or some crap when getting the code

One feature that I can't find is the ability to set the number of posts per page. On the old board, I liked viewing 100 replies per page, so you rarely need to click "next page." Can we still do that here?

Jeff, do you have control of avatar sizes? It might be nice to allow them to be as wide as people want (600 pixels?), but with a strict cap on height, since unlike the old board, avatars take up a lot of vertical space. Whatever the height is of the Shaft avatar you're using might be a good limit.

People who don't want them have a function in the User CP to view the page without sigs. Might as well try it, just limit the size of sigs...something like 500 X 150 to be the max size.

As much as I hate sigs, the fact that anyone can disable them makes me think they should be enabled. No inconvenience to anyone, added feature for some.

Although maybe there should be some forum FAQ sticky (that's separate from this thread) with info on disabling sigs, avatars or whatever else in that case.

Hello. I'm a newbie.

OK, here are my thoughts for everything:

1. The Sixers shouldn't trade Iverson. They have too many bad contracts. Trading Iverson won't solve any problems. The only way they can trade Iverson, is if Iverson wants to be traded.

2. Dalembert needs to be traded while he has some value.

3. I like the Kurt Thomas rumors. Especially since the rumors are for Korver and Salmons. Webber and Thomas would be a bad combo, but Hunter/Thomas would be pretty good (or even Dalembert/Thomas). Thomas gives the Sixers a mid-range shot, some defense, and some rebounding.

4. I really don't want Shaq to win another title. Let's Go Mavs. I think the Heat will win, though. Josh Howard alone cannot stop Wade and they have no real answer for Shaq (if Shaq plays well).

5. Love the new board. I was trying to get 10,000 posts, but I guess I'll pass on that. Have most of the major posters made it over, yet? I'm sure we'll lose some people on the switch.

Not sure if someone has already suggested this but I think you should combine the High School/Streetball/International Basketball forums into one since there's usually not that much to talk about. And I don't see a need for a Sneakers forum when there's already an Off the Court Lounge. Finally, please moderate this forum and keep it strictly about NBA basketball and move all the OT threads to Off the Court Lounge.
