How popular are designer brands where you live? (LV, Gucci, Prada, etc)
Do men wear designer belts as a fashion statement or symbol of status?

Here in New York, 3 in every 5 guys ages 16-25 usually wear LV/Gucci belts. For clubbing they tend to wear Burberry belts.

How do you feel about it? I've been needing to update my Michael Kors wallet to something less flashy yet expensive.

For men, I just see belts and wallets (outside of cars and houses) as a status symbol. As for women, jewelry, handbags, gold, shoes, are there symbols of high priced fashion.

So it's not a necessity. For some it is.

My father and I had gotten my mother an LV bag, we'd always go to restaurants and she'd point it out when another woman wears it. She wears it moderately, and I realized it IS a status symbol for SOME people. Some girls here in high schools and colleges with LV bags just turn out to be real scumbags. Typical shit.

Not really my thing. I saw a guy earlier this week wearing gucci shoes, gucci belt, and had his gucci wallet hanging out so everyone can see. They were all the same design so shit looked corny as hell.

I have a salvatore ferragamo wallet, its not a commercially popular brand so i never get compliments on it, but the quality is amazing.
It actually is bro. Ferragamo became huge over here now too. The belts that is.

for real? thats good tho, I never see anyone out here rockin ferragamo
Yep. It's a trend with designer belts. First LV and Gucci, now Hermes and Ferragamo. While Ferragamo isn't as popular it's out here in the black neighborhoods.

it's a lazy way to manufacture style and if your aim is to attract girls wearing designer stuff, then you're setting yourself up for failure.

Exposing designer attire attracts the wrong type of women. The men who do tend to wear designer brands tend to over do it as well. You can wear designer but make it look subtle. Real fashion afficinados can pick out quality designer brands without the flashy labels.

TBH, I have abandoned wearing high end brands and do most of my shopping at places like H&M and Forever 21. I get more compliments now then when I wore obvious designer gear. It's how you put yourself together, not what you wear. However some designer stuff is clearly better quality. I wear Diesel jeans. I have a new pair of Tome Ford glasses. But they are subtle. No distinctive markings like Tru Religion or Prada. Simple.

I take proud wearing $50 shoes, $25 jeans/pants from discount stores and knock-off $3 cologne.

Don't think I'm cheap though, I've dropped a couple of grands on concert tours, booking hotels and shit.
That's cool man. Idk about that Cologne part lol. Gotta wear designer Cologne or niche fragrance because scent is everything

That guy you are referring to is commonly known as a tool. Maybe I am getting old but dudes flashing brand name clothing are ass wipes of the worst kind.

That kinda shit would be an invitation to getting jumped or an obligatory beating at the least.

Here's the difference between how designer should be worn compared to how it actually is worn
