View Full Version : Curry's a highly underrated defender...

Just watch the games.

Time and time again, he defends elite players and forces them into bad shots.

Bran couldn't score on him in the finals.

I'm sorry that you don't have cable.

ESPN comes on most basic packages.

That why Thompson has to guard the elite PG's while he gets hidden on weak offensive players...

It's called saving the energy of the most dynamic offensive player in the world.

You know, kinda like Pippen did the for the GOAT.

Don't be, satellite is better. I've been watching the whole game.

"Curry's D is like, better than Lebronses!" :lol

Jimmy Butler, 26 points on 10/20.
Hinrich, 17 points on 6/11 (3/4 from three). 2 turnovers in 34 minutes.

Which player did he shut down?

I saw Curry's statpadding at the very end. I must have stepped away for a moment just before that and missed him "shutting down" Butler for a possession or two.

He's a lot better than some give him credit for.

I saw the Bulls running screens to get that Butler vs Curry matchup a number of times down the stretch. Butler settled for jumpers and made a few. Curry did very little.

Thompson isn't a much better defender but he's got length that bothers some players.
Curry is an elite team defender ala Bird.

Curry = tied for defensive win shares with Defensive Player of the Year runner-up Draymond Green on his team—one a top-5-defensive team in the league. I'm sure all defensive metrics will be favorably bumped up after tonight's game for him, as well.

Ain't P. Jack have to take Ordin off Magic in the '91 finals 'cause he was torching him? Then THICK Pip did his thang and Ordan finally got his first chip.

Wouldn't calling him "Joran" make more sense in this instance? or maybe "Oran?"

top flight defender

out of all players in the NBA
#1 steals last year

He's a solid man defender. He's certainly no Steve Nash on defense.

He's a decent PG defender, but he'll never impact the game defensively like a Lebron or Shaq

These guys were the best players on both sides of the court, and had to play pull minutes for any chance to win games

Except both of those guys only played elite defense for a few years and slacked off a lot of the time, whereas Curry provides consistent defense every time he steps on the court.

Yeah, he's a regular Jason kidd out there, thanks for opening up my mind, it's like I knew nothing about basketball till you opened up your pasty mouth. *makes a hand creature blah blahing* What would we do with out your extremely potent basketball mind, stalker? Because you are such a stupid, idiotic, mental midget let me explain: this is sarcasm.

call me when Curry is runner up in the DPOY twice

Curry will never be as impactful as either on defense due to being a PG

just the way it is

He'll never be a top 5 defender

He's definitely improved the last 2 years. He ain't gonna be Gary Payton but he's far from a defensive liability.

point guards don't have the defensive impact that bigger players do

he's not a versatile defender like lebron or draymond, but he understands passing lanes extremely well and ends up with #1 steals last year of all players and doing great this year too

guys like MJ and Lebron were the best on both sides of the court.

I've been telling folks this. People try to hold his defense against him. He can play defense if he's asked to but with this team it's just not necessary for him. The warriors have the winning formula and only need to keep it up, not alter it. Curry has 10 ten potential if he continues this level of play for years to come.

It's true. He would pester Lebron whenever he got the ball and Lebron often had to pass out or brick his shot.

a lot of overreaction here.

yes, curry is not a liability on defense by any stretch of imagination.

and he actually competes on that end, fighting through screens etc.. unlike one bearded superstar down in houston.

but he is surrounded by great great team- and individual defenders.
he is clearly the worst defender in the staring lineup

No he's not.

In the Clipper game CP3 had the heart to guard Curry. Meanwhile, Klay Thompson guarded Paul. On his own positional matchup.

He gambles for steals, similar to Iverson back in the day but it doesn't make him a good defender. Or even an underrated defender. He's better than say a Steve Nash, but he's average at his absolute best.

Kind of a non-factor on that end of the court. He's hidden many times, and Klay as well as Iguodala do the heavy lifting defensively on the perimeter.
