The Bulls are like the Grizzlies of the East; beatable, but people just don't want to play them because they always play hard

They definitely have a strong case. The sample-sized records may not revealingly reflect it at this juncture, but the fact is that the Bulls had to jockey their way through a relatively stronger schedule ai far and have even defeated the Cavaliers in Fred Hoiberg's season-opener.

There are bound to be some consistencies in a transient growing pain, as Hoiberg is a bit too under-familiarized with the NBA culture and competition to have his players well-prepared from the outset against all opponents; however, at peak value, the Bulls have the most collective talent out of all NBA teams and have been mostly accomplishing their record without a healthy Derrick Rose. Hoiberg seems to have instituted the long-needed interbalance between offense and defense that's needed to truly title-contend.

The playoffs are where they've mostly underachieved, and they usually show warning signs in earlier rounds - a la against the Bucks last year - before facing their eventual eliminators. Thibodeau's main flaw was overplaying his team at full bore during the regular season; they depleted most of their energy and health, as they ended up outworked in the playoffs against teams who saved such energy expenditures for that stage. Hoiberg is managing minutes much more sparingly, thankfully, and thus this team should no longer be majorly health-plagued anymore apart from Rose's freak-accident injuries.
