He's waiting for Lebron. Like Bosh. Like an old lover still dreaming about the old times. But Lebron ain't loyal to anyone but himself.

He's 40 years old. He doesn't have to rush into coming back to the game if he doesn't want to. Ray has a family of his own and ring chasing isn't anywhere near his top priority.

If he wanted to come back to the game then he can whenever he wants to, this is why he didn't retire.

he didn't formally retire because he was waiting to see if LeBron would ask him to come to cleveland. LeBron got J.R. Smith and Iman Shumpert instead.

I don't think Ben Wallace ever officially announced his retirement either. I mean Ray still might, who knows

Never actually retired.

He mentioned that he doesn't have anything left that he needs to prove/show the league. He has done everything he could. His family to him is the most important thing right now. Granted that was on his last season, but I doubt he's willing to come back after such a long hiatus.

Still disappointing that he didn't play one more season to eclipse 3,000 3-pters.

I've noticed that's happened with a couple of guys in recent years. I mean, I'm guessing it's always happened, but most recently I recall Richard Hamilton not officially announcing his retirement until earlier this year after a few seasons off. Also, I think Jermaine O'Neal has yet to announce.

He's waiting for Curry to call him and ask him to play defense and drive into traffic for him......

(Curry has an inversion to contact/ see jumpers in side bar)

No one offered him 50 mil to struggle through the season when he's well past his prime.
