i have no idea how to deal with a knife-wielder, let alone two knives.

my first thought would be to feint with my off-arm and then front-kick him in the belly... hopefully taking his wind away and stopping his momentum.

or maybe stepping to one side and whipping a light coat around one of his arms might work. even if that failed, you have even more options from behind him... before he gets to the kids.
