View Full Version : Paul George is quietly having an amazing season... and no one's talking about it

Early in the 2013-14 season, Pacers started off HOT. Winning almost every game they played. Losing only four games from October-December and Paul George led the way. It looked like he was on a mission to win the MVP and take LeBron's crown for "Best in the East". There were talks everywhere about how Paul George had evolved into a superstar. His name was getting out there. People here labelled him "Taller Kobe", "Rich man's Scottie", and my favorite of them all... "A winning version of Tracy McGrady"

Fast forward to late November 2015. Paul George is averaging 26.4 ppg, 8.4 rpg, 4.6 apg, and 1.5 spg all while shooting 46% from the field and 45% from downtown. The Pacers are 10-5. 2nd in the East. And yet... there seems to be zero talks about him. Just a tumbleweed rolling down the desert, mindin it's own business.

-PG scores 33 against Chicago while being defended by one of the best perimeter defenders in the league, Jimmy Butler... "yeah whatever, that's cool. Hey Steph scored 41 and Warriors won their 17th straight! Did you see that?! Did ya?!"

-PG scores 40 against the Wizards on 74% shooting "Ohhhh... coooool. He's good. What team does he play for again? :sleeping"

Why do I feel like all the love for Paul George has just been thrown in the trash? This dude came back STRONG after suffering that terrible leg injury and barely anyone is talking about him. Let's not act like this guy doesn't even exist. He's a young guy with loads of talent and a smooth, exciting game. PG needs our love.

I was about to make a thread about him the other day just because nobody has talked about the amazing season he's having. Dude is balling.

there's another thread already discussing this but i'll say it again.

pg13 is the best player in the east and mark my words, when the warriors meet the pacers their streak will come to an end.

I expected to see a bunch of Curry threads here after all of today's games finished and I wasn't disappointed. But I was also expecting to see some threads about PG. THAT left me wondering if people even knew he existed anymore :lol

Yes he is. There is another thread. Hopefully this one can stay on the front page. Pacers will definitely be a problem for my Dubs. Better bring the A game. I picked Indy and Toronto as possible losses on the upcoming road trip.

He's single-handedly making the Pacers go from a 38-win team to a 50 win team.

One of the true few superstars right now.

Definitely didn't think Pacers would be ahead of Miami/Chicago seeding wise at any point in the season, but here they are with the 4th best record in the league.

Too early imo, he's hot but let's wait till midseason

The scary part about Indy is that they started out the year 0-3 and there were some clear chemistry problems, PG not liking his role, etc. Since then they've won 10 of their last 12 and the 2 losses were against Cleveland and Chicago by an average of 2 points. They've been really, really f*cking good.

The big question is if this is actually how good Paul George is now, or if he's just playing out of his mind with the team following suit like in 2013-14 before he and the team fell back down to earth.

this is different imo mainly because the pacers try to run you out of the gym. not only that, but pg13 now has by far the most offensive help he has ever had. monta is explosive but he doesn't force the issue, cj miles has been playing completely out of his mind, and george hill has come into his own due to the fact that he had to carry the team after george got injured.

then they got big man depth with geroge hill and mahimi so their bench isn't as flat as it used to be in the past, while also being able to play great defense thanks to their active hands and george's length, and you have possibly the most balanced team in the east lead by the east's best player.

this isn't a fluke. but everyone will witness it when they break the warrior's streak on national television.

Unless they have another Hibbertesque mental collapse they should be a factor in the playoffs.

But while PG has been incredible...he's shooting 51% from 3 on over 7 attempts a game in their last 12 games where they've taken the league by storm. 46% overall for the year including those first 3 games where they were dealing with rust and chemistry issues. I guess it's possible he turned into a 6'10" Steph Curry, but I think it's far likelier that he's gonna cool down significantly. I just hope the rest of the team can balance things out accordingly when he does.

He's playing great, looks like he didn't even lose a step.

Always great having another superstar to watch in the NBA.

He'll just drop off like he did in 14. He loves chucking up long jumpers too much to keep this going.

Yup, because this is the same team as 2014.......Because Lance, Scola, West, Hibbert, CJ Watson and all those guys are still here and we still play like molasses..........Oh wait............

All of you were box score watching, I remember WATCHING the games...This is not the same Paul George. Only thing I agree with is that he's taking too many jumpers but his shot has improved.......How about we just wait and see......

He's had some dunks that MIGHT leave you to believe he's back, but no posters....He had one against the Bulls earlier this year where he came through the middle...Seen here

He had a reverse the other day against Washington, a very casual baseline reverse. He's had enough dunks this year to convince me he's fully healthy as far as atheleticsm but I'm still waiting on a poster......Something like this...
