View Full Version : What's more important, a regular season MVP or an all-star game MVP?

In the regular season, you're facing bad teams, mediocre teams, etc. In the regular season, a player like Nash or Rose can be considered the MVP.
In the all-star game, you're facing the absolute best players from the opposing conference.
The all-star game is the best of the best, and surrounding circumstances, such as the current state of a particular team, are irrelevant.
The all-star game is the most competitive and most star studded event the NBA has to offer.

Actually this is a very useful "test case" for how logic can be manipulated.
Your points all seem valid in theory, and if you were explaining this to someone who didn't know anything about the NBA, it would probably make a lot of sense.
Obviously we all understand the context and that you are a shameless troll, and thus know it's a completely worthless point.
But it's interesting how convincing a point can be made to sound without all the proper context.
I'm gonna keep this analogy in my backpocket. Thanks stalker.

So since we all agree that the all-star game MVP is more important, simple because all the best players in the world come together in this remarkably star studded competitive event...
Kobe has the most all-star game MVP awards of all time.
Only proving again that he's the 2nd GOAT.

Kobe's only one was a career achievement MVP. He should go drop that trophy off at CP3's house.
the funny thing is i agree
which is just one more reason why the mvp is a bogus award
kobes mvp season was probably not even one of his top 5 most valuable or talented individual seasons
i'd put
2001, 2003, 2006, 2007 and 2013 above 2008 in terms of value to his team and production
kobe won mvp in 2008 because he had the #1 seed and out of the 2 top seeds ( lakers/boston ) kobe had the best numbers ( aka best player on one of the best teams )
paul lost the mvp basically because of the mvp showdown game near the end of the season when LA trounced new orleans... and just simply having a worse record
one might argue paul officially had a 2nd allstar and LA didnt. but its obvious LA was the better team. and thats why kobe got the nod. even though paul was probably more valuable to his specific team if both guys were taken off.
so yeah... under official criteria... it was kobes mvp... but under the criteria that would have made kobe MVP 3-4 times on other occasions. it was pauls in 2008
so you just sucked my **** and ate my c*m... did you like it f*cker? i bet ya did

For a guy with High BBIQ, you can't tell the difference between a Regular season MVP and a All-star MVP? GTFO:coleman:

Playing well in one meaningless game, essentially an exhibition game where zero defense is played vs playing well through an entire regular season against real teams where the results matter. Tough call.
